Age of Empires Comes to Mobile

The gameplay of Ages of Empires Mobile will attempt to blend elements from the classic Age of Empires games with new and mobile-specific gameplay. Engage in strategic resource management, develop unique technologies, and train diverse armies to build and defend your kingdom from scratch.

As stated in the trailer, players will “discover and conquer a vast and realistic world teeming with resources.” You can witness a kind of “fog” dissipating as you progress in the game and conquer new territories. Players can conquer detailed medieval cities alone or form alliances with thousands of players online in real-time battles.

You’ll be able to choose from over 40 heroes and combine them to obtain new power-ups. Well-known characters such as Joan of Arc, Cleopatra, and Hannibal are among the options seen in the trailer.

Some of the select civilizations you can choose from are the Chinese Empire, Romans, Franks, or Byzantium, among other civilizations yet to be announced.

The Age of Empires Mobile Trailer seen below has left us with mixed feelings, especially for RTS enthusiasts. What was shown in the video, albeit with the typical resource gathering characteristic of Age of Empires, seems to be a game intended for a very different market than what typical players of the legendary franchise are looking for. Age of Empires Mobile looks closer to what Blizzard did with Diablo Immortal, more focused on action rather than tactics. And of course, it being a free-to-play game, microtransactions are more than assured.

Age of Empires Mobile will open its preregistration process soon, although they did not disclose the release date. It’s worth noting that with this preregistration, players will receive gifts such as materials, construction accelerators, or the heroine Cleopatra VII. Age of Empires Mobile will be available on both iOS and Android devices.
