Age of Wonders 4 Announced for May Launch on PC and Consoles
The turn-based tactical RPG Ages of Wonders 4 has been announced by Paradox Interactive and developer Triumph Studios.
The next instalment in the series, Age of Wonder 4 has been announced to releasing onMay 2ndfor PC, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This is the next main entry for the series of games.
The Age of Wonders series combines elements of turn-based gameplay with strategy. In this new entry, players will be introduced to more strategy RPG elements. This will open up further choices and consequences according to Engel, who shared that there will be “new possibilities and tactical advantages”. The 4X strategy title will also add high-level replayability with the addition of the new event system. These procedurally generated events, together with world combinations will spice up gameplay with unique conditions in Age of Wonders 4. As you make decisions the map will also be affected, giving true consequences to in-game outcomes in the campaign.
You won’t end a campaign in your typical victory or defeat conditions as you would see in other similar strategy titles. Instead, players are encouraged to be a part of a much bigger picture, where they can face their own creations as “potential rivals or allies in subsequent games”. This means being a part of a major saga that doesn’t end with simply one faction winning over the other. Ages of Wonders 4 will also support “more moddable” content and will be more “open-ended than ever”.
Ages of Wonder 4will be coming to PC, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on May 2nd.
