Age of Wonders 4 Tops Steam Sales Charts

Age of Wonders 4 tops the Steam Sale Charts, and sells incredibly well.

Paradox Interactive’s latest foray into the 4X genre, Age of Wonders 4, has seemingly performed extremely well. According to both Steam DB, as well as an official press release, the game has sold quite a lot of copies.

SteamDB’s other entries included Rust, GTA V, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Hogwarts Legacy as the number 7 through 10 top sellers.Redfall, which was released on May 2, was nowhere to be found.

Additionally, Paradox Interactive mentioned their game had reached 250,000 sales in just 4 days. Do note that this figure already includes both preorders and actual sales post-launch. CEO Fredrik Wester seems to be enjoying the success, claiming that the collaboration between them and developers Triumph Studios was “a very rewarding experience”.

For those unfamiliar, Age of Wonders 4 is the follow-up to the 4X Fantasy Strategy series. The game sets you to create and manage your kingdom while expanding, exploring, exploiting, and exterminating. Some may even compare it to the likes of other Fantasy 4X games, such asSpellForce, orTotal War: Warhammer 3.

What sets the game apart though is that you can fully create your own faction. This is unlike the rest that you only select from a pre-determined list. Players can create a fully-functioning society of their choosing. To start, you will choose your faction’s physical forms. You can have your basic humanoid shape, go dwarven, or elven. Some may even go as wild as selecting a mole or rat form for their empire. Each form will have some starting mind and body traits but these can be fully replaced with those of your choosing.

Going deeper down the rabbit hole, players can select the culture & society, and more. Eventually, lords will be able to gain powerful magic tomes that will drastically change how your faction plays like. On top of that, you can create your own environments and locations prior to starting a match. This is a great way to tailor the experience based on how hard you want to make things for yourself.
