Amazon Prime Announces The Tomb Raider TV Show
Tomb Raider, The popular and iconicLara Croftsaga is coming to the small screen onAmazon Prime Video, as confirmed byCrystal DynamicsandAmazon MGM Studios.Phoebe Waller-Bridgewill be the writer and executive producer. This is no longer an unexpected move, nor a surprise for fans of the games and TV viewers.
Video games are increasingly making their way to the small screen and achieving success. Now, it’sTomb Raider’sturn, which, despite already having a movie, will now have a series on Amazon Prime. Following the undeniable success of the recentFalloutand previouslyThe Last of Us, both with their second seasons already in production, the next video game to hit the small screen will be Tomb Raider, which will have a series onAmazon Prime.
With no confirmed or even hinted release date,Amazon and Crystal Dynamicswill work together to bring the Tomb Raider series to the platform, which will be released in over 240 countries and territories around the world.

Fans and newcomers alike can look forward to exciting adventures that honor the legacy of this iconic character.
It seems that the amount the giant has allegedly paid to acquire the rights to the license has been leaked: 600 million dollars. While it certainly seems like an extremely high amount, it’s important to remember that this encompasses numerous projects that would define the future ofLara Croft. Additionally, if all this is true, Embracer Group would no longer hold the license, although Amazon would rely onCrystal Dynamicsfor the development of its games.
For comparison, it is estimated thatAmazonspent about 250 million dollars on the rights to The Lord of the Rings, which allowed it to create multiple seasons of the series and even spin-offs. Now, the 600 million dollars for Tomb Raider would cover both video games and series as well as movies.
In the meantime,Amazon Primemembers can claimTomb Raider: Game of the Year Editionon PC via GOG, available throughout May.
