Annual Warframe Conference Tennocon 2023 Shows Off New Stories, Features, and More!

Aug. 28, 2023

Warframe conference Tennocon resumes in-person format as it announces new story content, Warframes, and more!

This year, we get new major story content in the form of “Whispers in the Walls”, a peak at Waframe 1999, Dagath the 54th Warframe, as well as some updates on various platforms to play Warframe on.

One of the highlights of Tennocon was the announcement of the “Whispers in the Walls” campaign, which will arrive on all platforms sometime this winter season. Digital Extremes teases that the campaign will “drop you into a hair-raising conflict rife with shocking revelations”. Players will be thrust into a battle between some of the deadliest personalities in the Warframe mythos, trying to keep the system intact.

Initial videos of the Whispers in the Wall include extremely cinematic locations that dwarf existing areas. There are also some breathtaking area transitions that are extremely seamless, and provide enough shock and awe to make even the hardiest of warriors shed a tear.

The gameplay features tons of shooting, as well as an improved Necramech enemy faction. Players will also get another secondary weapon type called the Grimoire. These mystical Grimoires are exactly what you would think – they are spellbooks that allow the Warframes to cast spells. Talk about might and magic. Warframes can use the Grimoire to fling magical bolts at their foes and even show them pages of the mystical tome to strike them with even more force.

A new scene is introduced almost immediately after the cinematic of the Whispers of the Wall. The footage abruptly cuts to a new character named Arthur who is wearing an Excalibur suit, but armed with more traditional weapons and is equipped with ammo pouches.

Arthur is seen gunning down some crazed enemies that look like literal computers just given sentience.

October’s update for Warframe will be called the “Abyss of Dagath” which will introduce a Warframe just in time for Halloween. She is the first Warframe to appear that literally has no face at all. She also has more horror elements, being called a “headless horseman” since her pauldron is made up of a horde’s skull. Dagath also wields a menacing blade and will also introduce a whip-type weapon.

Dagath’s kit, as well as the rest of the goodies for October’s patch, will be announced in the September dev stream.

While Warframe may be available on tons of platforms, including PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and the Nintendo Switch, cross-play and cross-save are things that are still on the table. Cross-play between various platforms is already in testing at the moment, but currently, players can’t bring progress to a different console environment.
