Assassin’s Creed Shadows Is Delayed

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. It’s unfortunate, but the widespread criticism ofAssassin’s Creed Shadows, the new game in the series set in feudal Japan, has led to a major decision at Ubisoft Quebec’s offices.

We don’t know whether these harsh criticisms (directed at the character Yasuke and the portrayal of Japan during that period) are connected to the game’s delayed release date.

They claim they need more time to polish the game, refine the experience, and emphasize other key aspects of the title.

What is clear is thatAssassin’s Creed Shadowswill no longer release this year. Additionally, other updates have been confirmed, such as a day-one launch on Steam and a strategy shift to cancel battle/season passes.

Ubisoft also stated that all pre-orders made up to this point will be refunded, and future pre-orders (when available) will include free access to the first DLC.

Ubisoft’s official statement expresses that it has always been their dream to bring theAssassin’s Creedfranchise to feudal Japan, to offer an immersive world with the best possible technology, multiple playstyles, and innovative mechanics for the series.

The first major decision is to launch the game directly (day one) on Steam, scrapping the idea of exclusivity on Ubisoft Connect. It may even be optimized to work on Steam Deck.

Those who pre-orderAssassin’s Creed Shadowsonce the new pre-orders open will gain free access to the first expansion, though details are not yet available. As for pre-orders placed up until today, they will be canceled, and everyone will get their money back, regardless of the edition or platform. Ubisoft also thanks fans for the support over the past few months.
