Atomic Heart Devs Confirm It Will Be Single Player Only
Developer Mundfish answers some final questions for the upcoming RPG Atomic Heart and confirms concentrating on single-player content only.
Atomic Heart will be releasing this February, ahead of which developer Mundfish shed light on what to expect for theAction-RPG. In an interview with Wcctech, they shared that once upon a time multiplayer content was planned for the game. However, have now confirmed there won’t be a multiplayer mode and the already announced four DLC packs will be offering an expanded player experience.
The game has been in development and since has had delays due to “youth, ambition, innovation and new technology” according to Bagratuni. But there is still plenty planned post-launch with four DLC packs set to add “new territories, quests, puzzles, enemies, as well as character and world stories.” Cutting back on certain ideas in order meet realistic goals:
During the development process, we made the tough choice to abandon some ideas, even very big ones, like multiplayer. It was painful to have to make those kinds of choices, but it was the right decision. You don’t have to chase trends when you create something new and innovative.
Game Director – Robert Bagratuni
A new trailer was released today showcasing the game’s DLSS 3 and ray tracing features. The gameplay shows some ranged combat as well as wielding some Bioshock-esque abilities against the enemies.
In case you missed it, Atomic Heart’s story is a “what-ifs” narrative about an alternative universe where the Soviet Union now has access to the “technical revolution”. This includes their development of robots, the internet and holograms. You take on the role of a KGB agent called Major P-3, who is looking for a robot control system which is not acting as it should, now causing robots to harm humans. While we may fear an AI uprising, Atomic seems to play on the past and the dangers of what could have happened if this tech was left in the wrong hands.
Atomic Heartwill be releasing on February 21st for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Playstation 4, Playstation 5 and day one Xbox Game Pass.
