Baldur’s Gate 3introduces Patch 7 with mod support, changes to Honor mode, and “evil” cinematics, and it’s already available, but for now only on PC.
For Mac and consoles, they predict its release in October, due to the technical difficulties of implementing the main new feature: official mod support across all platforms.
Those playing on PC can start clearing space, as this patch weighs 11.6 GB and requires a total installation space of 160 GB. If you don’t have enough space, they recommend uninstalling the game and reinstalling it with the patch.
Another thing to keep in mind is that until the patch is released on consoles, console players won’t be able to load their cross-saves on the PC version with Patch 7, and multiplayer between PC and Mac will remain disconnected for the time being.
The main feature of the update is a Toolkit and Manager that you can download from Steam, allowing Larian Studios to make it easier for you to create mods. After that, you can search for and install them directly from the game.
To encourage everyone to try creating mods, they will release a series of tutorials in the form of Steam posts, although you can already find some at this link, along with the rest of the Patch 7 notes.
Remember, if you’re playing on consoles or Mac, Patch 7 will take a bit longer and is expected in October, but Larian is committed to also releasing official mod support on all platforms.
Later on, and although Larian is eager to “hang up the armor” and work on their next game, more updates will come to Baldur’s Gate 3, including cross-play and a photo mode.
