Baldur’s Gate 3 Won’t Have Split Screen on Xbox Series S; Xbox Release This Year
Larian Studios finds a solution to co-op split screen issue for Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox Series S, dropping it altogether to launch it on the console this year. Xbox Series X will still feature split-screen.
Larian Studios has finally found a “solution” to the current split screen problem plaguing Baldur’s Gate 3 for coming to Xbox Series S. This particular issue has been behind the CRPG not coming to the console at the same time asPlaystation 5next month. However, Larian Studio Head Swen Vincke finally came to the conclusion that split-screen won’t be supported on Xbox Series S, the lighter model of the console.
Following a meeting with Xbox head Phil Spencer, Vincke shared the news on X (Twitter) that the Xbox Series X will still have split-screen co-op, but the Series S will forgo the feature. Series S will still feature cross-save progression between Steam and Xbox, so you will still be able to continue your playthrough on PC or Xbox if you own Baldur’s Gate 3 on both platforms.
All improvements will be there, with split-screen coop on Series X. Series S will not feature split-screen coop, but will also include cross-save progression between Steam and Xbox Series.
While this means the Xbox version will be moving forward this year. We will still need to wait for the official announcement for the release of this version of Baldur’s Gate 3. The Playstation 5 version is swiftly moving ahead, releasing as early as September 2nd for Deluxe Edition owners through a few days of early access. The plans for split screen co-op have been in the works for some time. At one point the feature was considered crucial for both versions of Xbox Series. However, the good news is Xbox players will finally be able to shove enemies into ravines in Baldur’s Gate 3 at some point.
As for what the future holds for Baldur’s Gate 3 well with thehuge successof the game already on Steam wiht almost 900,000 players venturing into the Forgotten Lands. Larian could bring some further content to the game would be welcomed by BG3 fans. However, Vincke has already dampened hopes of the game receiving anexpansion, calling to the complications it would hold with levelling past level 12 the current character cap and combat.
