Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox Version Faces “Technical Issues”
Baldur’s Gate 3 has an Xbox version in the works but has run into some technical issues says developer.
Larian Studios unveiledlast weekthat players can begin to explore the Forgotten Realms in full as soon as August 31st for Baldur’s Gate 3. Platforms announced were PC and Playstation 5. This led to a lot of Xbox players wondering if and when there would be an Xbox Series version. Well, Larian has since answered the question but it isn’t as straightforward as you would expect.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is designed to be played not only as a solo game but with co-op. This means offering players a split screen experience when teaming up with their favourite adventurer. However, this has led to some “technical issues” for the Xbox version of the game. Larian shared in a post on the official BG 3 reddit that an Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 has been “in the works for some time”. The Community Manager went on to explain they have “run into technical issues – particularly with split-screen co-op”.
They are continuing to hammer out the problems they have encountered and will be ready to announce if they can release an Xbox version as soon as they know. The devs have gone with deciding not to promise a version on this console to avoid disappointing fans or getting their hopes up. So while this message isn’t exactly good news, it does provide some insight as to why only a PS5 version was announced for launch day.
Hopefully, Larian can work out the kinks in getting the split-screen co-op to work for Xbox as it would be great if we could get the game on this platform too. Because the more the merrier when adventuring no?
