Blasphemous IIannounces a patch to fix bugs, along with an upcoming update to address player complaints about the new game mode.

More than a year after its release on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC (and later on PS4 and Xbox One),Blasphemous IIreturns with a new update and its latest DLC.

At the end of October, The Game Kitchen releasedMea Culpa, a DLC that expands the base game with new content, additional areas to explore, and the return of the iconic sword from the first game.

However, issues arose with the update, which introduced a New Game+ mode that includes theTrue Tormentdifficulty. This hasn’t been well-received by fans, prompting the Seville-based studio to make urgent adjustments.

Through their account on X, the studio issued a message addressing complaints regarding the recent update ofBlasphemous II.

In the message, The Game Kitchen acknowledges the update’s bugs and promises to release a patch to fix them this week, taking into account fan comments.

The complaints stem from the fact that the new mode doesn’t fully qualify as a New Game+, lacking many key features typical of this mode.

InTrue Torment, players cannot carry over skills, upgrades, or even rosary beads; only collectible cherubs (Proximo’s brothers) are retained between playthroughs.

This has been a major disappointment for manyBlasphemous IIfans, and their criticisms prompted an immediate response from The Game Kitchen.

“Based on your requests, we are preparing an update focused on theTrue Tormentmode,” they explain. “It will arrive shortly after the bug-fixing patch.”

Additionally, The Game Kitchen detailed that the update will include balance adjustments in areas where players reported severe issues to the studio.

Finally, the Seville-based team encourages all players to report any issues they find in the game, whether in the updated version ofBlasphemous IIor theMea CulpaDLC.

Those wishing to report issues can do so through the game’s Steam forum or via Team 17’s customer support.

The Game Kitchen is committed to ensuring thatBlasphemous IIremains a unique experience in the Metroidvania genre.
