Bloodborne 2? Deep Down? – Sony CEO Teases Japanese Developer Game Reveals for E3

Speaking toTime, Sony CEO Shawn Layden had some interesting comments about what we can expect from Sony during E3. During the interview Layden said that the resurgence of console (specifically the PS4) popularity is drawing in many different types of games as well as more traditional Japanese creators. He said the following:

Layden says the Japanese publishers are also coming back, listing off recent games likeResident Evil 7,Nioh,Nier: Automata,Persona 5andFinal Fantasy XVas examples. “That’s super important for us,” he says. “I think a lot of Japanese developers lost their way chasing the mobile games yen, if you will, but they’re coming back to console in a major way. And speaking of, we’ll have some big announcements at E3 in that precise vein.”

Hmm. Very interesting. We know thatrumors have been circulating recently about Bloodborne 2getting a reveal, and we also knowDeep Downissomewhere out therein hiding. With those games developed by big Japanese studios at From Software and Capcom, it’s certainly possible that these are games he is intimating as announcements of both/either of these games would be huge AAA reveals. It would be right in line with the great string of releases we have already seen this year, both the action titles he mentioned and the recent wave of traditional JRPGs that have been coming to the console likeValkyria Revolution,Akiba’s BeatandDark Rose Valkyrie.

I hate to say but I think the platform of the next FROM game will determine what I will purchase soon…BB2 would mean buying another PS4…

Well we know they renewed the trademark in February. They have to be tired of getting asked about it and this is the time of year for it. Capcom usually has a really big installation on the E3 floor (last year was insane) but a huge chuck of it was RES7 and a Monster Hunter Zepplin. You’d have to figure they need something to fill the floor more with.

I would love to see more info on Deep Down. Probably a bit early to say, though…
