Capcom Assures It Will Not Stop Releasing Games In Physical Format

Capcomhas assured investors that it has no plans to stop producing physical games. The question makes sense because 90% of games sold are in digital distribution, mainly classic titles that are on sale.

“Given that a significant number of users demand physical games, we do not expect to eliminate physical products,” said Capcom. Analyst Daniel Ahmad recalls that the company’s expectations are to sell 93.2% in digital distribution, and while this does not mean that these releases will disappear,

In fact, Capcom’s most recent release, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, debuted directly in digital distribution. “The ‘significant demand’ part only applies to their AAA releases. Not necessarily to AA games or classic games,” Ahmad points out.

It therefore does not seem that users should worry about the physical release ofResident Evil 9,Street Fighter,or other major company sagas, but it is increasingly common for some titles not to reach physical stores or to do so later, with the clearest example being Alan Wake 2 from Remedy Entertainment.
