Acquire has released the first trailer, some details and screenshots for their upcoming game C.A.R.D.S. RPG: The Misty Battlefield.

The game follows the Clausewitz Battalion into a map covered in mist. Here players will collect and strengthen cards to build the best deck to fight against enemies in C.A.R.D.S. RPG: The Misty Battlefield. It’s all set in a fantasy kingdom where a jet black dragon is plaguing the world and eventually destroys the land. There’s also an ongoing war which lasts a century, ultimately being called “The 100 Years’ War” which makes sense.

The war looked like it couldn’t be stopped but the sight of the dragon, a “chimera” seems to spark trouble as it has no interest in who is fighting who. This creates an alliance between the enemy country Fahftania and the giant organisation Hellmuth Brigade. They end up sacrificing 1000 of its citizens to the chimera as they try to create a weapon capable of bringing down this dragon.

Seth Arden, a scout from the Clausewitz Battalion finds out Fahtftania hasn’t exactly been that forthcoming and is actually creating their own chimeras to take over the world. This sets the captain of the Clausewitz Battalion Vel Dina to put a stop to the inhumane experiments of Fahtftania. But of course, there are some complications with this faction being under the influence of the Hellmuth Brigade.

As previously mentioned the gameplay hasrogue-likeelements woven into a traditional strategy game with deckbuilding. Players will have over 50 varieties of cards to collect, as they try to find a way through the mist covered land. The battles are grid-based and will use strategy turn-based combat. Facing hidden enemies, facilities and discovering further equipment to help them win the fight. The game is set to also feature fully voiced characters for further immersion in this war-ridden world.

There also looks to be some cool critical attacks that could really change the tide of battle. The footage shows some of the cards including shielding, potions and much more.
