Code Vein New Screenshots and More Details Revealed

Bandai Namco has officially unveiled Code Vein following the earlier info reveal from Famitsu. The new content revealed today are several screenshots and an official synopsis of what the game is about.

In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world as we know it.  Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood. Give into the bloodlust fully and risk becoming one of the Lost, fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity. Wandering aimlessly in search of blood, the Lost will stop at nothing to satisfy their hunger. Team up and embark on a journey to the ends of hell to unlock your past and escape your living nightmare inCODE VEIN.

Players can choose an AI buddy to accompany them as they explore the world, and each companion has their own feel and backstory. Revenants will use Blood Veils which drain enemies to enhance your abilities, and then use these gifts to increase their strength, weaken enemies and use new weapon abilities. You will choose from a variety of weapons such as bayonets, axes and spears to suit your style.

The centerpiece of today’s reveal are a host of screenshots. In them you can see the game’s distinct art style, which is stylized and dark:

Editor at Fextralife. I look for the substantial in gaming and I try to connect video games to the emotions and stories they elicit. I love all things culture and history and have an odd fondness for the planet Jupiter. I think my dogs are pretty awesome too.

If it’s anything like God Eater, it will have quite a bit of customization, but not to the degree of Souls and Skyrim. You won’t get all the 100 and 1 sliders to adjust every little curve of the face but you do get to mix and match face types, eyes, hairstyles, etc, etc.

my pc sucks to much to run a cutting edge animeu game like this. can barely run dks3 without getting kicked for frame-rate in areas like dragon mountain zone (or whatever its called).

Alright well you better all help me add info then! And remember… I can now see how many wiki edits you have right here on the forum

oh dear this looks right down my alley! I love the design of the characters. If you can personalize the character design even as much as Souls and skyrim etc, I will totally love it (provided the fighting system is decent of course)hyped!

Hunger has increased.Definitely cover this one guys.I’m really liking what I see.

Wiki, definitely wiki. Wiki while holding Nito’s skull in your hand.

So of course my first question is… to wiki, or not to wiki?

Digging the style!

Really hoping for co-op and not only AI companions. But seeing as they are coming from God Eater I really hope co-op is a given.

Looks very interesting, I wonder what the gameplay will be like?I get a strong real-time RPG vibe, like KH or FF13, you know that kind of combat. Then again, I think a more conventional third-person style could work well too…..hmm, I’m just incredibly intrigued at the moment.

Looks awesome to me. Like Tokyo Ghoul (not the first to say it) mixed with Darksiders.

Shut up and take my money! This sounds awesome!

Good call on the Soul Sacrifice. I actually quite liked that game.

The feel I’m getting from this is closer to Soul Sacrifice than Dark Souls. Like, a whole lot closer.

I am really looking forward to this. I had lots of fun with God Eater 1+2.

Can’t say I’m really a fan of the art style. The concept seems interesting so I’ll keep an eye on it, but if I had to decide based on what I see here, I’d pass.
