Cosy Life Sim MMO Palia Gets Limited-Time Quests with New Character

Developer Singularity 6 has announced new content heading to the life sim MMO Palia.

The free-to-play title held itsclosed beta back in August, introducing the MMO that concentrates on questing, crafting and life activities. It later launched its open beta about a week after on PC. Since then the studio has been adding more content and updates. The latest addition is a new character Subira who comes with their own limited time questline. Joining this update comes new areas, furniture items and the ability to sit down. So now you can craft chairs and sit in your creations, nice.

The biggest part of this update is the Subira narrative content which adds a limited-time questline, until the main storyline chapter is updated. While Subira is related to the main questline, the developer plans to evolve these quests over time. What we know about Subira is that they are a Watcher and part of the Order.

Don’t worry about rushing content as the developer says there will be some time before the next major story update is heading to the game. Once the main story update does happen though, you will still have ways to obtain the rewards from the Subira questline but by other means. So no one should miss out on them later on. There are also friendship quests for this character which act similarly to other NPCs, and these aren’t going anywhere.

We can’t give full details yet, but we can share one clarifying note: Subira’s Friendship Quests are independent of the main story quests, so rest assured you’ll always be able to complete that at your own pace.

Players can enjoy further furniture sets and the action of sitting in chairs available on your housing plot. Further recipes and flow tree groves will appear one per day. Widening the creatures that inhabit Palia, a new one by the name of Muujin can be found in trees in Bahari Bay. There are three different versions of this creature so be sure to keep an eye out. A new accessibility feature will make hunting a little easier, as you can now adjust the speed of the camera and movements while you’re aiming.

In case you missed it Palia combines the love of sim life games but with an MMO experience. Think Animal Crossing New Horizons meets Disney Dreamlight Valley but in an MMO setting. The title focuses on narrative and player interactions. While its non-conflict gameplay might not be for everyone, it offers something a little different to the masses of MMOs out there. Instead, players can dive into an open world where crafting, hunting, fishing, and housing are the focus.

Previously the developer had mentioned plans foradding combat to the game, but it will be strictly PVE. The combat will also be opt-in experiences, so not a requirement as Palia’s overall vision is a low-stakes world. There is room for competitive content though in terms of mini-games where players can compete against each other.

It will be interesting to see as the game grows (and its player base) what creative ways the studio can come up with keeping the content fresh and engaging.

Palia is currently in open beta and is expected to launch on PC and Switch.
