Cult of the Lamb: Relics of the Old Faith DLC Surprises Fans on April 24
Cult of the Lamb: Relics of the Old Faith DLC is a free major update to the charming cult that we’re all delighted to be a part of and expand. Features including a new post-game storyline, Challenge Runs, Relics, and more will grace the land beyond on April 24 for all platforms.
Here, the goal is to convert religious groups like crusaders while taking down opposing monsters and bosses who don’t believe in your cause. With new uprisings to quell and enemies to destroy, it’s time to sink your claws into the game once more!
Cult of the Lamb has always prided itself in delivering fast-paced combat that’ll surely wrack your nerves. In this DLC, Heavy Attacks will be improved. These are then combined with newer skills as you engage in more difficult Bosh Rush activities as well as Challenge Runs or Crusades. As shown in the trailer, there are already 3 confirmed Heavy Attacks. These are seen with the Sword, Dagger, Gauntlets, and Axe.
The Sword is an excellent weapon when you’re dealing with numerous enemies nearby whereas the Dagger allows you to crush them with multiple daggers, which rain from up. You also have Gauntlets that act like these huge claws to swipe targets in front of you, and then the Axe to throw at a creature from a distance.
Now these aren’t the only ones that will change since you can also expect to see new Relics by spearheading Sermons. Acquiring these Relics will also be connected to a new storyline referred to as “The Three Ducks”. Some examples of the attacks you’ll get to include Freeze Time to essentially pause the world so you can destroy your enemies. Fifty-Fifty Gamble, which appears to dictate the effect you’ll receive with the help of dice. You also have Poison All to well… intoxicate non-believers.
Of course, it’s not all blood and gore since you’ll still need to tend to your followers at home to woo them into worship. This time around, you can recruit Bishops to help proclaim your holy word. Cult Leaders can also build Shared Shelters for communities to grow and sleep together. This is good since sleeping on cold ground alone can get lonely sometimes. You can also build a Kitchen where believers can prepare meals and cook for one another. Lastly, we get a Morgue and Crypt. As expected, these are used to store nasty, decaying corpses so that your camp will continue to look appealing from the outside. And hopefully contain the stench.
Followers will also have even more forms to transform into, or for the player to choose from. These include badgers, penguins, and more.
On top of these features, there will be a Photo Mode with various stickers that you can include to spruce up the photographs. You can even add things like funny hats, wings, or even halos to your followers in photographs. Cult leaders can even take photos of their sleeping followers if they so creepily desire. Think of it as advertising to lure in more folks, just like a college website.
Relics of the Old Faith DLC promises to restore your faith in the cult in terms of uncovering long-buried secrets, hacking away at those who contradict the beliefs of the Old Faith, and managing a cult much better than before. One thing’s for sure, immortality shall reign again!
Cult of the Lamb was one of our 5 Best Steam Demos to Try Out. The game is a mix of rogue-lite with town management, with a mix of Lovecraftian Horror for good measure. Our cute little Lamb Character seems to be immune to death, thanks to The One Who Waits. In return for our immortality, this eldritch being has us preaching its good word, and to build a cult in its name. Players build up this cartoony yet grim cult by indoctrinating dozens of fools, managing their happiness, and going on various crusades against the wicked.
