Cyberpunk 2077 Documents Stolen & Being Held for Ransom From CD Projekt Red

In a bizarre turn of events, thieves have made off with some early files ofCyberpunk 2077, the upcoming open world RPG by CD Projekt Red ofThe Witcherseries. In a brazen move, the thieves have demanded ransom from the developer. They issued the following statement on Twitter:

In the statement, the developer has refused to pay the ransom, saying, “The documents are old and largely unrepresentative of the current vision for the game. Still, if you’re looking forward to playing Cyberpunk 2077, it would be best to avoid any information not coming directly from CD Projekt Red. When the time is right, you will hear about Cyberpunk 2077 from us – officially.”

We haven’t seen much of the game since it’s announcement but know it’s in extensive development. It would be a shame if our first looks were leaked content that isn’t even relevant or representative of the game, especially under illicit means. The game is scheduled to release sometime in the future for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

This is a rather amusing timeline we are living in xD

Not the worst cyber ransom I’ve seen. There were people who supposedly stole the Pirates of the Caribbean movie from Disney and held it to ransom for millions (or at least hundreds of thousands) of dollars, and if Disney didn’t pay, they would release the entire movie online for free. Then there was this one extreme fan of this one anime who held leaks to the new episodes hostage unless the creators made their romantic fan-canon canon in the anime and manga.

A little early teaser that we’re not even sure matters to the end product? I wouldn’t pay either. If anything, you get some free advertising

I… hm.

I don’t know what they expected.

2 immediate possibilitys.1. they actually got hacked. pretty cyberpunk.2. they fake the hack for a publicity stunt. really cyberpunk.

Oh the irony.

So, it sounds like it’s not very severe. Just a potential fake leak. Like we haven’t seen fake leaks before.

how very cyberpunk.
