There’s a lot to unpack here, as the footage was quite action-packed and filled to the brim with content. We also got some news on some hands-on experience that some lucky members of the press were able to snag over the weekend.
InCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, players will embark on a dangerous spy mission as they navigate the treacherous streets of Night City. TheDLCis being touted as a spy thriller, and its narrative seems to be shaping up to be quite good.
We continue our adventure as V in Phantom Liberty. As usual, we can’t seem to keep out of trouble, and eventually become entangled yet again in a web of espionage and political intrigue. Apparently, other forces are aware of the “ticking time bomb” in our heads known as Johnny Silverhand. These people are interested in helping us out. For a price, of course.
When the President’s orbital shuttle is shot down in Night City’s deadliest district, it’s up to V to save her. Players will infiltrate Dogtown, a city within a city ruled by a tyrannical leader. It’s a place where danger lurks around every corner, and survival requires cunning, and skill.
This doesn’t look like a simple escort mission, however. As the story unfolds, shattered loyalties and a fractured world of hustlers, net runners, and mercenaries come to light. The president herself also looks like quite the badass, as she is no damsel in distress. She can be seen confidently leading the charge ahead of her rescuer, brandishing a mean-looking assault rifle.
One of the highlights of Phantom Liberty is the inclusion of two major Hollywood stars reprising their roles. Keanu Reeves returns asJohnny Silverhand, part legendary rocker and part extremist of Night City.
Joining Reeves is the talented Idris Elba, who portrays Solomon Reed, a sleeper agent with a mysterious past. Elba’s character brings a new dynamic to the story, adding depth and complexity to the narrative. The contrast between the enigmatic Reed and the charismatic Silverhand creates an engaging dynamic that will keep players immersed in the thrilling espionage tale.
What role will Reed play in the overall narrative? CDProjekt Red promises that loyalties will be tested, alliances will be formed and broken, and the line between right and wrong will blur. The story should have many unexpected twists, secrets to uncover, and a wealth of content to explore.
Phantom Liberty not only expands the storyline but also introduces exciting gameplay mechanics. It isn’t quite clear yet if we’ll be getting an expanded skill tree or even more powers in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. We do get to see some sweet new weapons being used, with a heavy emphasis on silenced weaponry. Time to let the inner spy shine.
While not directly related toCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, CD Projekt Red has promised an update that allows players to shoot out from their vehicles. Finally, they will be adding a dimension to vehicular combat. One that doesn’t include just running over your targets.
The inclusion of cars equipped with mounted guns that can fire bullets and rockets will shake up the driving combat experience, providing players with more tactical options and explosive action. It only took them 3 years to let us shoot through the window!
With Phantom Liberty, CD Projekt Red aims to deliver an expansion that exceeds the expectations of fans and offers a captivating experience within the cyberpunk genre. The DLC has been eagerly anticipated by the community, as it promises to address the desire for additional high-quality story content. Although the launch of the base game had its challenges, the studio’s dedication to improving the game through patches and updates has demonstrated its commitment to delivering a polished and immersive experience.

CD Projekt Red’s ambition to breathe new life into their cyberpunk masterpiece shines through in Phantom Liberty. Considering that Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be the game’s one and only DLC, this has better be a good return to Night City. The DLC can be purchased standalone for $29.99 on PC (via Epic Games, Steam, and GoG), Xbox, and PlayStation. A bundle on PC and Xbox will let players purchase the base game and the expansion for $55.99. This bundle is surprisingly missing from the PlayStation ecosystem.
