Dark Souls 3 1.04 Patch Notes

Players logging in to play Dark Souls 3 will notice a menu update on an upcoming patch, scheduled to hit all platforms on Monday April 18th. In addition to the more nebulous “general balance adjustments and bug fixes” there were several explicit changes being made. Here’s a list of the notes provided:

What remains to be seen are what specific performance adjustments we will see for the weapons and spells, and the exact battle performance adjustment for the Dancer’s Enchanted Swords and Winged Twin Knight Axes. Any player dealing with the item use issues at end game in the mentioned areas will be happy to know it’s being addressed.

Dark Souls 3 has better texture quality, lightning and general effects. I have no idea how fricking blind you have to be not to see that.

There’s a difference between a game developed for current hardware and an older one that was upgraded, but it’s pretty clear you believe you know better. Even so, it’s still over a year old, and Dark Souls 3 is, like, not.

They remade the game from the ground up using DX11. By definition, its a current gen game, I don’t care how you try to spin it. The game looks 100% identical to Dark Souls 3 graphics wise. The details in Dark Souls 3 are not any better than in SOTFS. People have every reason to expect that FROM delivers a good PC port. They set the bar with SOTFS, because people complained about the first Dark Souls port on PC being garbage, and it was. And Dark Souls 3 is almost as bad as the original Dark Souls port. From took a step back, not forward.

TIL allowing a higher framerate and somewhat denser textures makes a last-gen game current-gen.

Correction:

– SOTFS is a current gen game. Its a remake for modern systems. Original DS2 was DX9, SOTFS was made for DX11. This is why SOTFS was PC and current gen console exclusive.

– Lots of people have reported performance issues with the PC version, including people with PCs better than mine.

The framerate issues are present even on high end PC’s. Ask Cas about his experiences with it. It’s definitely something that needs to be addressed on a development end because the issue is not necessarily user hardware.

Expecting a current-gen game to run at the same speeds as a last-gen game on the same hardware is the definition of unrealistic.

Its perfectly realistic to assume 2 similar looking games should have similar performance. Unless they seriously screwed up somewhere. If that’s not realistic, then tell me what’s so unrealistic about that expectation? Dark Souls 1 ran like garbage on PC due to poor optimization. If Dark Souls 3 isn’t as optimized as Dark Souls 2 was, then they got basically no excuse, because they set the bar for what PC gamers expect with Dark Souls 2 SOTFS, and considering Dark Souls 3 looks identical graphics wise, what’s their excuse?

I guess you can expect whatever you like, doesn’t make it realistic.

The PC version still has some huge performance issues. These performance issues are absolutely 100% freaking inexcusable. Graphics/details wise it looks the exact same as Dark Souls 2 SOTFS on PC does, and that game ran pegged at 60fps with a 5 year old GPU at max settings. I’m rocking an OC’d I5 2500K + OC’d R9 390 and I get massive stuttering when its saving, and occasionally when picking up items. Even more laughable, and this further underscores how much of an unoptimized POS this game is on PC is I can run 3200×1800 resolution and get 35-45fps, but 1080p won’t even run constant 60. Yeah, I expect this shit to run 60fps like Dark Souls 2 SOTFS did at 1080p resolution. The performance in this game is so laughable, that I can rotate my camera angle 45 degrees to the left and get a 10+ fps drop just by doing that in some spots. Inexcusable.

You should be more careful, you’re liable to get arthritis jerking your knees like that.

Hell yes I will, if they are already going full nerf mode within 3 days of international release I will NOPE my way right over to the Doom Open Beta.

Surely they need to nerf magic spell sword? Guild Wars 2 warrior Bladetrial was(massive nerf) a effective anti-gank tool who stack body. Aura kingdom keep it as 1 body x 2 multiplyer as people not foolish to bodystack to rush one player.

I wonder what the changes to the Dancer’s swords will entail. Right now they seem to really suck in comparison to other weapons I’ve gotten off regular mobs, even at +5. Is there something I’m missing here that explains why they’d need a nerf?

I haven’t yet been able to get past the big doors after the first boss fight without my PS4 crashing so hard I have to hard bootI hope this patch remedies this, but I’m not feeling hopeful yet considering the notes are pretty light-weight on details.

Hi, i have an issue with Dark souls 3 on pc :Enemies/myself phase through each other like we’re not there. through some troubleshooting, I find out that all the hitboxes appear to be sticking at their Spawn location rather than on the model.Meaning I have to find where the enemy spawns to kill it, or lead it off an edge (’cause I can’t push it) and I can’t seem to get hit either. Game is broken and near unplayable in this condition. and I can’t seem to find any fixes.

I tried everything, make an other character (5 more) rebooted my pc, updated all my drivers, uninstalled/reinstalled …An exemple :-I tried to invade and surprise my hitbox wasn’t bug anymore but wasn’t able to hit ppl, I came back to my world => still bugged.-I summoned a player and he was able to hit mobs and bosses, in the meantime the dragon wasn’t able to kill mobs when their hitbox wasn’t under his fire. So i guess it’s a local issue.

This seems to be linked to AMD APUs. FM2 or FM2+ socket APUs I think

Except this bug the game run very well more or less 40-60 fps.I’m not the only one there is a lot of threads on Dks3 steam’s forum.I hope they will fix it soon we really need a patch.

I’m assuming it’s the individual weapon? The category seems a little broad with the uniques.

should I read they will balance the greatswords as a category or just the Guts ugly slab of black iron ?
