Dark Souls 3: Release date, Network test, Japan Premiere Reveals

Today, From Software revealed mechanics and details of Dark Souls 3’s launch during the Japan Premier hosted in Ebisu, Tokyo.

The time and date of tests may change or cancelled without prior notice.

Weapon Artshave been added to the game. There are a range of these weapon actions with unique qualities and effects, and using them consumes Magic/Weapon Art gauge. Those weapons that do not display a gauge have no consumption. For an English version of the controls, please seethis page.

Magic is activated via consumption of points stored in the magic gauge. If you do not have enough points, magic will not activate. To refill your gauge, you may rest at a bonfire or use the item “Soul Ash Vessel”. (*not final translation).

Dynamic shadows from the torch are gone. Whelp.

It was meant for japan player only. Hence you have to enter a Prefecture. Plus the Quote;

“Network Test: (Japan) Signup for beta testing by visiting this link. This test is intended for Japanese Playstation players.” Sort of sums it up…..

But hey send an E-mail. The worst they can do is say no by not responding.

Personally Americans rip games apart finding the most bugs, glitches and cheap ways to play. So if they want a better pre-sale test. I would have gone with a world beta test. Who knows, maybe they will after the network test. I don’t think they will though.

I went ahead and registered just in case. My suspicion is they can’t tell from email address where I live (America), but they can tell once I download the game. So either we (a) won’t be able to even download it; or (b) network connectivity will fail upon realizing we’re not coming in from JP. Still though, its worth a shot.

On one hand, i’m ok they don’t show alot of zones and enemies in the demos to not spoil too much, but on the other hand, I want to know alot of things of ds3 and i can’t resist.

And is this desire that makes me to ask alot of questions. So here is a question and two tiny request if you have time to investigate at the demo. The question, i supose we will see the basic types of magic, soul arrows, heal and this kind of stuff, do you have observed any important change to this type of spells?

I would like that in the demo, you try to investigate a bit the frostbite status effect from the frost knight. The other request is that in the entrance of the boss room, where there are the 2 knight, it seems to be something similar to the nomads we see in the e3 trailer. I simply want to know if there are just decoration or actually they make something.

You will make me very happy if you answer this, and thank you in advance.

Most likely the later. I might be wrong, but it sounds like magic and weapon arts both use the same bar. If so, enhancing a spell cast would make it cost way more than usual, and thus prevent spamming.

On a side note: having magic and weapon arts using the same resource means you’ll have to favor one or the other. Good bye true hybrid builds.

The area of the demo was the same one we have all seen, and it will be the same demo at Tokyo game show, inside songs booth. I’m looking forward to playing more so I can test some more magics in detail,

I also expect we will see the same area for the network test, since From seems determined to try to keep the mystery which is something I wholeheartedly agree with

As, it’s only announced in japanese website and they ask the prefacture, I supose you have to live in Japan. I hope they announce a beta for occident when the say the release date here.

Sooo, can non Japanese players participate in this beta test or not?

I read the article another time, i hope that in the demo we will able to see spear and mace weapon arts, because it isn’t in the weapon art section of the article, but the 2 new classes use them.

Hi, a tiny question, the zone of the demo is the same we see in gamescon or they changed it.Can we expect to see new enemies and zones? In the presentation event, have they talked about other mechanics other than magic and arts? Thanks for the answers

From what i’ve seen from the non japanses website, they haven’t opened the presentation part yet. Hope they make something for europe and america and confirm the release date on pc.

I’ll write up some more details of the event and share some impressions. The TGS demo is gonna be the same one as this, and each person only got around 25 minutes to play during the event, so I hope to get more time at TGS and thus a more nuanced view of magic.

Maybe backstabs negate this effect, or the ability uses up a lot of the gauge, or maybe anything else that doesn’t make this OP.

Oh yes this going to be goooooooooooooooooooood.

IIIIII’m ggggooooooooooing to bbbbbbbbbbbeeeeeeeeeee, a viiiiiiking sorcerer, WWWWHEEEEEENNN IIII START TO PLAYYYYYYYYYY!

Caaaaaannnn you feeeeeellllll the hyyyyyppppeeeee tooooniiiiigggghhhttttt

That’s incorrect, the weapon arts does have unlimited use, but after 20 uses, the damage goes down.

They’ll only have 20 uses at most. lol.

Found my starting class. And it makes sense on how they are doing spell weapon arts, I’m assuming the faster enemy attacks this might have been needed.

Me too but it seems to consume some gauge so maybe it’s balanced.

As much as some people are criticising From for sticking to the same games, they seem to be taking some risks here and doing major gameplay changes with the whole ‘weapon arts’ thing.

Yay, people will be able to get off heals without being interrupted (or wrath of the gods)

“Press L2 to cast miracles without being affected by ennemy attacks” for the talisman…for some reason this worries me a bit…

I assume that is the case, and we will likely be finding out about a western test / release at a later time (probably very soon). In the meantime, I wrote detailed instructions of how to apply for the JP test, which will assume you are living in Japan.

I was more thinking along the lines that since it was revealed in Japan, and they only revealed the Japanese release date, they might only have revealed the Japanese test times and that there will be a different schedule for tests in Eu and NA like they did with DkS 2, yet to be announced.

I would assume since all the times are corresponding to Japan time and it’s on their Japanese website that they are intending it to be for Japanese players. I don’t know if that means that they are the “only” ones allowed however. You might try signing up anyway just to be safe.

P.S. It’s a PS4 only test.

Cas

So the network tests will only be open for people in Japan, or they just didn’t announce how it would be for the rest world, cause it was at an expo in Japan?
