Dark Souls 3: The Ringed City New Info: Arena Password Matchmaking, Screenshots, Videos and PvE Info!
Bandai Namco has released new information and screenshots on From Software’sDark Souls 3:The Ringed City, the final expansion for the critically acclaimed game. Keep this page open and refresh as the day goes on to learn more. Obvious spoilers will be contained within. The big news is the confirmation of password matchmaking in thearenawhich can be seen in the following series of screens:
The password matchmaking in the arena allows for a variety of customizations. You can set a password to allow for matching with friendly team only and the enemy team is matched with another, or you can have everyone use the same password and finally you can select which team to be a part of. This should make coordination with friends a lot more user friendly.
The new arenas coming with the expansion are calledDragon Ruinsand Grand Roof. As you can see in the screenshots, it’s anArchdragon Peak-themed arena with crumbling ruins and elevations to lurk and ambush and the Grand Roof ofLothric Castle, where you find the 3 Golden Winged Knights is a more spacious and open area.
The new arenas will be available on the 24thforAshes of Ariandeland Season Pass owners or on release day if you are planning to pick up The Ringed City alone. As long as you can access the Undead Match, you can access every arena map.
Check back later today for some brand new footage from Bandai Namco on the new arenas coming to players:

More weapon stat screenshots
Aside from the Kite Shield, Zweihander, Longsword, and Talisman, this weapon screen only has weapons from the AoA DLC and several unknown weapons, most likely from the TRC DLC.
it is not a mistake, it is a strategy: all tryhards hear about OP weapon => they plague PvP for a month -> THEN they balance it once the sales are done.
the projected heal is a superb idea though….the only incentive to play healer in a group. this might actually make me play my OP cleric again…the bow lightning thing working with unflatering is a total joke…like miracles were not already totally OP because of this weapon art….they give us one that can be held and released with UP ? really?

Oh good God.
That RKSS is a mistake.

My bad, thanks.

Edit: Another one
I’ve updated the article with the new stuff. It’s actually Lightning Arrow, Projected Heal and Giant Door Shield to clarify
New weapons, shields, and spells shown in the stream. I’m not sure about all of these names or any requirements, they didn’t show the stat screens and I might’ve heard wrong.
Ringed Knight SwordLongsword, stance lights it on fire and lengthens it, stance R1 is a four hit combo with hyperarmor and stance R2 is a charging thrust attack.
Ringed Knight ShieldSmall shield that can spray fire in a horizontal sweep.
Lothric War BannerSpear, weapon art gives an AoE attack boost centered on user.
Giant Door ShieldDual wielded shields, you can block with both. Weapon art is super double block stance, apparently has stance attacks.
Projected HealA heal spell you launch like Emit Force.
Lightning ArrowShortbow as a miracle, can hold the arrow without firing for as long as you want. Works with Unfaltering Prayer, UP will last until you fire.
Get your popcorn ready, folks. Streaming time approaches.

The Grand roof looks bland and boring as heck, honestly a better location to copy and paste for a arena would be the Profaned Capital bonfire but with a shorter ladder, or I have an idea, an original unseen part of the GAME. Just make a map thats just a arena, maybe like the coliseum.
Lol I put it in the article already. How are you somehow faster than me????

This is why I miss the Rope Bridge BoB arena and would like a similar tight quarters map. That was pretty much the only arena I dueled in, because you couldn’t use the environment to get away for a heal. It also gave you some easy wins for noobs that couldn’t control their roll. Plus it was extremely advantageous for an aggressive play style, you pretty much had to bring the fight or “git wrekt”. I loved it! Its why I love bringing ganks to the buttresses in the Aldrich Killing Fields, evens the odds a little bit.
the password system is probably very interesting feature for the few players who play souls with friends but just a depletion of the already very tiny player pool for those like me who rely on random matching.
2 new arenas are good, although for dueling a good old bare platform would do just fine but for team matches, the intricacies of the dragon peak will certainly be a blast for a while to play hide and seek and drop (silvercat ring, slumbering dragon and obscuring ring meta?)
about healing…well…as long as PvE and PvP follow the same rules, there is nothing you can do against healers…even a half decent player can heal safely in plain sight as long as you got a wall to plug your back against to block a backstab punish, you are good to go.
I swear if you can still heal with instant healing miracles I’m done, with all this room to go and explore, seems it more room to run away from dyeing. The only thing I see thats good out of this is the change to the password system.
Only 2 new arenas revealed SO FAR, you mean.
I told you that if you knew what I knew
only 2 new arenasI feel like there could be a lot more. They already have the environments built. Perscilla’s old boss room in Ariandel, where we fight pyromancer Donnel would be awesome for 1v1 only matches. The lake in Irithyll could make for a cool arena with a few topographic additions. IDK, just seems like a missed opportunity to add easy content to extend game longevity.
the PW matching is cool though
Oh shit, what? Isn’t this exactly how people were hoping it’d work in the first place?
Okay, I’m interested now.
