Darkest Dungeon 2is now available on consoles after its release on PC. The roguelike from Red Hook Studios is now on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Besides the standard edition, the Wrath Edition also debuts, containing the base game and the DLC The Binding Blade.
In the sequel to the well-known Darkest Dungeon, we embark on a journey through five campaigns known as Confessions, each characterized by its specific boss with different mechanics. Including the Duelist and the Crusader, there are now 14 playable characters to choose from.
Other game features include the Altar of Hope progression system, 10 companion pets with unique properties that define each run, and thematic difficulty modifiers in the form of equippable items like the Radiant Flame or the Infernal Flame, for those who want an even greater challenge.
Among the new features, it boasts a revamped 3D visual section with its distinctive artistic style, a new gameplay system based on the road trip structure, improvements in turn-based combat, fourteen heroes, five regions, five final bosses, and a progression center (The Altar of Hope) with frequent updates.
The DLC adds two heroes and a new mini-boss, the Warlord. “The Duelist is a disciplined and lethal warrior who switches between defensive and aggressive stances effortlessly. She is essential in any group because she ignores enemy defenses and can counterattack,” say its creators.
The Crusader is a battle-hardened knight who serves as a frontline hero, enduring severe blows; additionally, he assists his team with healing and stress relief while dispatching his enemies with his righteous blade.
