This new filing is a different one from the initial trademark filing, which as we understood, compelled Capcom to demonstrate usage of the title by this month. We anticipated seeing something new gameplay related, but will have to settle for the knowledge that there are still plans for the game.
Deep Down has been mired in a bit of development hell since it was first announced and it’s been a good 2 years since we’ve heard anything new. My presumption is it’s the latter. I’m not sure they’ve shown anywhere near enough to run into an issue of it dramatically deviating, unless it’s now a digital board game or 2D platformer or something nutty like that. I’m going to assume they just don’t have anything ready to show at the moment that is set in stone and want to avoid another long process of false promises. My guess is that when they do show something it will be something solid, even with a release date in the near future. I think. Who knows anymore lol.
We are pretty much guaranteed to see the game at e3 this year. It would be nice if Capcom would show something at PAX next month, but I doubt that they will. Still, this news is really exciting.
how did you find that info out? I’ve been searching everyday since before the patent expired and this is the first thing I’ve seen.
Oh, interesting. Does this mean its changed so much the original copyright no longer applies, or does it mean they didn’t want anyone to see it yet?
