Destiny 2 Unfair Player Bans On PC!
Having justlaunched on PCyesterday,Destiny 2players on the platform have been experiencing bans in Bungie’s latest online-shooter RPG.
The new controversy was brought to light on Bungie’sforumsand onReddit, where a number of people were claiming that they’ve been unfairly banned in the new game.
In their discussion, they speculated that the bans seem to be triggered when running 3rd-party software in the background such as chat services like Discord and Mumble, hardware monitoring software like Fraps and MSI Burner, as well as programs with overlays like Steam Overlays and Video Capture applications.
It’s theorized that such programs “interact” with theDestiny 2client, by inserting their own code into the game. And this is something that Bungie has strictly forbidden in the game’s policy, to ensure a safe gaming haven free of hackers and cheaters.
Bungie states“We believe that this is a necessary measure in bringing you a great gaming experience inDestiny 2on PC”
In response to this outcry, Bungie stated in ablog posttoday saying that only 400 players were banned on PC and explained that the banning system is not an automatic process, but a manual one that’s done after an investigation.
“Yesterday, we banned approximately 400 players on PC”says Bungie
So far, its still unclear as to what exactly is causing these bans other than anecdotal evidence shared by people online. It’s quite the rocky launch forDestiny 2on PC, and we’ll update this story as new information arises.

I’m not justifying Destiny 2’s lootboxes but they are not pay to win. All you can get from the lootboxes are items that are more for aesthetics. The only thing really of use would be the armor but that drops at light level 10 if you get one and the perks aren’t that great compared to other legendary gear.I agree they shouldn’t be in the game to begin with but they are far away from pay to win. More like pay to waste your money for useless crap.
“Banhammer at large” made me laugh. Imagined a big hammer going around smacking players in game then running away
To be “fair”, Bungie does have to have an extreme policy in place as their pay-to-win loot box system would be broken if people just cheated to win. Why else would they punish people for “cheating” in PvE?
