Diablo 3 Necromancer Class Overwiew
The class entered into beta on April 25th for players to test out and refine. When it does release it will be playable in both the Campaign and Adventure, with full voice acting and lore. From a graphics perspective, the dev team is tuning some improvements for the class’ focus on special effects and are designing it so that the players will see a full visual extravaganza when using their skills and the rest of the party will see a more basic look of the same skills.
In gameplay the Necromancers in Diablo III are going to function in a similar way to those in Diablo II. Their core stat is Intelligence and in combat rely on a variety of skills and spells, including curses and some undead minions. Eventually the class will have 4 sets available with the following focuses: melee, ranged casting, pet, blood. 1 and 2 handed scythes will be their weapon class and phylacteries will be their offhand and their resource is called essence and can be gained via skills. A wrinkle unique to the class will be the corpses of monsters that they can see alone, which can be used as catalysts for their corpse related skills. Early feedback on the class has been encouraging with players noting it’s connection to the past while not being completely derivative.

Diablo is one of those games that I can keep picking up and enjoying the new content each time, they really turned that ship around since the fail that PC launch was (not economical fail, but delivery)
I’m looking forward to this!
I’m not entirely clear on how the normal, non-mage skeletons work. Do they just randomly pop up when you have certain skills active? Do they have durations like the mages do? Skeletons with durations would be kind of iffy IMO, if you wouldn’t be able to carry minions from one combat encounter to the next. Half the fun of a necro is building up a massive army of the dead, after all.
Sick. This will be a good reason to play again.
