Diablo 4 Patch: Season of the Malignant and Update Information Revealed
Diablo 4 Gets More Info on Season of the Malignant and Patch 1.1.0. We know what each Heart will do, as well as what to expect in the coming days.
The team at Blizzard just announced yesterday, on July 18th, all of the major updates for their Diablo IV 1.1.0 patch. A follow-up blog post also detailed all of the new and upcoming Malignant Hearts that are coming to the game’s first-everseasonaljourney.
Season of the Malignantkicks off on Thursday, July 20th at 10:00 AM PDT. The game’s first major update is patch 1.1.0 which was released yesterday for all players. Let’s jump into what new threats await the heroes of Sanctuary.
Of course, Season 1’s biggest feature is the addition of a new item type called the Malignant Heart. These are powerful drops from Malignant Monsters that are quite similar in function to the Legendary Gems from Diablo III. They can be picked up and inserted into socketed jewelry, so players can have up to three equipped at a time. Players will thus need to get rid of any plans to socket anySkullsinto their equipment.
In total, Diablo IV will get 32 Malignant Hearts divided into four main categories: Vicious (Offensive), Brutal (Defensive), Devious (Utility), and Wrathful (Super). 12 of these will be general class agnostic hearts, while eachclasswill get 4 class-specific ones.
Players can also enter new Malignant Tunnel repeatable dungeons in order to target farm a specific color of Heart.
Some of the more interesting Diablo IV Malignant Hearts are as follows, taken directly from Blizzard. Do note that any fixed numbers are based on a level 20 character.
Diablo IV got quite the controversial update just in time for the game’s first season. While many consider the patch a mixed bag due to the amount of nerfs, the update did bring along some good things. Here are some of the more positive notes that were highlighted.
Altars of Lilithand theexplored map regionsare now account-wide. This means that you will be able to share the Renown rewards with all characters in your roaster. It is also more impactful as even fresh Seasonal Characters will have these bonuses, giving them increased Skill and Stat Points to play around with. Due to the current implementation, however, players are required to log in with their “most progressed” character in order to unlock these for other characters in their account.
Side Quests andDungeonsalso provide more Renown after completing them (+50% and +33%, respectively). This change is actually retroactive and will benefit even old characters. This should make it just a bit easier to reach Max Renown for each region.
We also get tons of returningUnique itemsfrom the previous Diablo games, with an updated coat of paint. Ahavarion Spear of Lycander is an Uber Unique Staff that grants its user a random Shrine buff whenever they kill an elite enemy. This staff can be obtained by any class (though two out of three classes can’t even use Staves).
The Azurewrath givesBarbariansa chance to freeze enemies with their Core Skills.Druids’Fleshrender mace makes Debilitating Roar and Blood Howl deal damage to poisoned enemies nearby.Necromancers’Lidless Wall creates Bone Storms out of existingBone Storms, giving you a storm outside your storm. Eaglehorn onRoguesmakes Penetrating Shots create an arrow that bounces around the environment. Lastly,Sorcerersget The Oculus which teleports them around randomly when they evade.
Alongside this, there are 7 newLegendary Aspectsto watch out for. 2 of them will be usable by all classes (Audacity and Craven). Each class will get 1 new specific one.
These highlights are just the tip of the iceberg, so to speak. There are dozens, if not hundreds of other changes including various fixes, buffs, and nerfs. It isn’t quite clear yet how this will affect the meta of the game, nor how it will all interact with the upcoming Malignant Hearts. Stay tuned to find out more.
