Diablo IV Season of Blood Trailer Revealed at Gamescom 2023

Aug. 23, 2023

Diablo IV’s second Season, Season of Blood, has made its debut in Gamescom: Opening Night Live just a bit over a month after the release of Season of the Malignant. Even though the initial details are sparse at the moment, there are still major points to uncover, especially since fans have been requesting some of these changes even before the beginning of Season 1. Let’s dive into it!

Buckets of blood are making headlines because just yesterday, everyone was surprised to see a trailer for Diablo IV’s second season out of nowhere. This time, it’s being called the “Season of Blood”. Its release in June of this year initially prompted favorable reviews, often calling the launch a success due to how stable the servers were and how fun the gameplay loop was.

However, the game was met with a lukewarm response soon after the start of Season of the Malignant. Because of this, the community has been waiting for Season 2 as some of the most requested features are said to be implemented during this stage.

It goes on to show the horrid and bloody effects of these actions with good animation alongside Erys, who is the main NPC requesting your help.

On top of this, we will of course be treated with a new questline, and since we will deal with vampires, new Vampiric Powers to use. We will most likely have to harvest these from the dreadful monsters we decide to slay later on. There will also be 5 endgame bosses, which will be available on the Eternal Realm as well. The bosses are said to be both new and returning monstrosities to the world of Sanctuary. This has been confirmed by Global Community Director Adam Fletcher via X (RIP Twitter).

Additionally, there will be newUniquesand Uber Uniques that would probably drop from these but it remains to be seen how powerful they may be. According to Blizzard’s blog, we can expect these items to feature better target farming.

Diablo IV’s Season of Blood is expected to significantly improve important functionalities in the game such as the inventory, status effects, and Renown rewards.

First is the inventory, which will now have a search bar, allowing players to readily search for the items they need rather than looking at these one by one. They will also be able to filter them but in terms of the specific categories, there are no details yet. One of the biggest improvements would be that gems no longer occupy inventory space! But it remains to be seen how Blizzard will handle this, that is, if it will be included in the list of materials players continue to carry or if it necessitates a special type of space.

Second is the status effects including overhauling the way resistances work to make them meaningful and significant in creating builds, together with theVulnerable,Overpower, andCritical Strike Damageaffixes. It would be nice to reduce the volume of damage types associated with these stats since they contribute to the added RNG factor in the game.

And last but not least are the Renown rewards. Instead of only carrying over the Skill Points and Altars of Lilith progression for every season, the developers will now make sure thatParagonPoints, Potion Charges, and Obol capacity upgrades will be included in the mix. This means that regardless of whether you completed the Renown progression in the Eternal Realm or Season of the Malignant, all of these perks are readily available to you at the start of Season of Blood. This is an amazing request, one which will reduce the unnecessary grind progression for every Diablo IV season.

With all of these considerable changes coming our way on October 17, we can’t help but be excited to learn more details as Blizzard provides updates in the next couple of weeks. If you are looking forDiablo IV Build Guides, then be sure to check out ourDiablo IV Wiki.
