Diablo IV Seasonal Model Confirmed for 3-Month Cycles
Diablo IV got a small bit of info specifically on its seasonal model. Apparently, the game will have quarterly updates that are quite “meaty”.
As reported by Gamespot, Game Informer’s upcoming issue will feature a ton of news, especially regarding the upcoming Diablo IV. These updates will be quite substantial and will be very “meaty”. Diablo IV seasons will have big content drops that will contain new storylines and other mechanics to shake things up.
Updates will happen every 3 months and will consist of one “season”. Players of live service games such as Path of Exile, Destiny 2, or even Diablo III should be no strangers to the seasonal model. These updates happen quite frequently in order to keep things fresh and new, and oftentimes can change the “meta” andendgameentirely.
We have yet to see what exactly these sweeping changes may be. Perhaps they can be likeDiablo III‘s newmeta progression in Season 28wherein they add entirely new systems to play around with.
Seasons won’t immediately be available on day 1 of Diablo IV’s launch on June 6th. Instead, this will be implemented later on down the line, though Blizzard hasn’t given any concrete timings as of yet.
For Diablo IV, these will also come with a Battle Pass. As expected, there will be Free and Premium reward tracks, just like in Overwatch 2. The team previously confirmed inAugust of last yearthat players cannot buy power or boosts at all. These will all be available in the season pass’ free tier. Premium will be relegated to having purely cosmetics and elements that will not affect gameplay.
Diablo Immortal has been criticized at many points for its monetization model, so hopefully Diablo IV does not walk down that path.
Diablo IV releases in just a few months from now. Blizzard is definitely happy, as the recent Beta Period was thefranchise’s biggest ever. They also glossed upon theEndgame Systemsin a separate video interview.
