Divinity: Original Sin 2 Early Access Patch Adds New Sorcery Schools
If you’re enjoying yourself withDivinity: Original Sin 2’sPC early access, there’s more good news. Larian Studios has released a new patch for the early access edition that not only makes some fixes and changes but adds some new features. The big new addition is the fleshing out of thePolymorphandSummoningschools of sorcery and the Make War mechanic. As always, Larian has put together a gleeful trailer about theupdate:
The day has finally come! At long last, you’ll feel the power of the Polymorph and Summoning schools.
Turn your enemies into chickens; slap them with tentacles; or turn the tide of battle with totems and a powered-up incarnate. Sprout wings and soar to high ground to fire long-distance shots at pesky enemies. Grow horns and charge at enemies across the battlefield to gain the best position– and leave carnage in your wake. The possibilities are limitless and we can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with!
TheSummoningschool uses Incarnates and totems to make life a living hell for opponents. Both Incarnates and Totems take on powers based on the surface they are summoned on, and they can be buffed as well. EveryAbilityPoint in the Summoning combat ability will increase your summons’Vitality, Damage,Magic ArmourandPhysical Armour.
Polymorphsare inspired by nature and their magic takes some of the best and worst aspects of other creatures and puts them to combat use. For example, you can grow wings and fly over surfaces, and then chain that with the Flight skill for longer distance flight. The Polymorph combat ability gives players one free Attribute Point to your avatar for every Ability Point invested.
The newMake Warmechanic allows you to turn your former friends into enemies. When you select this option, you will become enemies with your ex-party membersand will enter turn-based combat with each other whenever you approach. Whoever flees or dies loses. If you don’t want to fight your ex-party members, but want to be sneaky, the option allows you to prevent them from seeing your quest journal.
