The fact that this has couch co-op means this is a winner for me and my wife. We’ve pretty much exhausted ourselves with Diablo 3, so this will be a welcome change
I put over a hundred hours into this game on my first play through alone and is the best turn based combat RPG out there at the moment. The combat is very similar to Fallout 1and 2 with a fantasy setting. The character creation and way you level up have very deep customization that encourage multiple play throughs. I haven’t played this game in months, but I will most likely pick it up on console since you can play local OR online co op and I have yet to do this.

I played the PC version and never got around to finishing it. I found the game to be really mediocre.
My main issue with the game was that it was just way too text heavy. It got to the point where I just got impatient and mashed through all dialogue, because even random unimportant NPCs had wall, after wall, after wall of text. Most of the quests weren’t that interesting either. I facerolled with a team of 2 mages on the standard difficulty by using elemental combos. This game has nothing on Baldur’s Gate 2.
Also, the game ran like garbage, and I got a very good PC. Consistent 60fps was a problem. Any time explosions went off, massive FPS dips, and this game has last gen graphics. That’s the hallmark of an unoptimized game. I dunno if its been improved or not.
Pillars of Eternity is considerably better than this game is.
I’ve been putting off getting this on Steam so I probably will hold out now for this on PS4. Can’t wait to play it though, has always looked really good.
It was a teaser trailer. The PC version was a kickstarter project and is really nicely done given its origins. It’s a solid oldschool turn based RPG. It has a grid system, complex questing and puzzling, elements that cancel each other out (apply fire to poison pool and it transforms into a poison cloud then goes away etc)
I can understand why a small developer who crowdfunded their project are so happy to get so many excellent reviews by big outlets
I don’t know if my words are worth any of your trust, but if you like turn-based RPGs, then this is a must. The combat system is one of the best I’ve ever played, and I’ve played a lot: all of the D&D games, Phantasy Star series, Final Fantasy, and etc. The way you can use the environment to create devastating combos is extremely entertaining. All of the classes bring their own breed of awesome. I’ve tried them all and all are fun to play. Of course, mage is my favorite, but rangers and rogues are pretty well done in this game. Crafting is useful, even if not creating an item from scratch, you can improve any weapon/item you find. There may be some limits but I don’t remember off the top of my head. The only real complaint may be with the story as it can be silly at times, but I don’t really care about lore or stories in RPGs. I know, blaspheme. That’s the only thing I see people griping about.
I highly recommend this game, it has some replay value for challenges: solo lone wolf or dual lone wolf, which is a type of prestige that gives bonus points while leveling, but locks out companions from joining your party.
Thank you for the update about this title but I’m going to have to avoid this all together because their video showed no gameplay, very little art, and only pointless reviews from gaming journalists. In my opinion, I can’t get excited for anything sponsored by so many journalist commentaries, goes to show they’re trying to push this to the sheep gamers and not the true gamer fanbase (e.g. Souls/BB)
Well I got the wiki skeleton set uphttps://divinityoriginalsin.wiki.fextralife.com/
Tempting… but looks like an addictive game, must stay away from it! (…added to wishlist…)
