Divinity: Original Sin Sequel Will ‘Definitely’ Happen Says Baldur’s Gate 3 Developer
Developer Larian Studios share they want to make another sequel for Divinity: Original Sin but after a much-needed break following the upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3 launch.
With Baldur’s Gate 3’s launch fast approaching, many might be wondering what are Larian Studios’ plans after the imminent release. According to a recent interview with IGN, Larian boss Swen Vincke shares that they want to release another game for the Divinity: Original Sin series.
As for how soon after can we expect them to be jumping back into the world of Rivellon? Well, not until the team has had a well-earned rest. The roughly 400 developer team have been putting their “heart and souls” into gettingBaldur’s Gate 3into 1.0. A break will be vital to keep their creativity flowing. But this is good news because it means we’ll be seeing another Divinity: Orignal Sin title sometime down the line.
It’s [Divinity: Original Sin] our own universe we built, so we’re definitely gonna get back there at some point. We will get back there at some point. We’ll first finish this one [Baldur’s Gate 3] now, and then take a break, because we will need to refresh ourselves creatively also.
Larian’s main focus at the moment is the highly anticipated full release of Baldur’s Gate 3. Currently, in early access, players will start completely anew once version 1.0 launches on August 3rd. Boasting17,000 endingswhen considering the number of outcome permeations this game is big, promising at least 75+ hours for a playthrough.
