Dragonheir: Silent Gods is a New Turn-Based Strategic RPG

Dragonheir: Silent Gods is an upcoming grand fantasy RPG that wishes to emulate a tabletop gaming feel.

Nuverse, the publishing company behind Marvel Snap, is at it again with their role-playing goodness. They have just announced that they will publish Sgra Studio’s upcoming game, Dragonheir: Silent Gods.

This new high-fantasy RPG is set in a world that is besieged by an evil dragon god. As usual, it will be up to the customizable hero of our choosing to battle it out and save the realms from eternal darkness. Yes, that’s right, “realms”, because this game will somehow have a multiverse attached to it.

Dragonheir will be played primarily as a mix of overworld 4X gameplay as well as specific isometric battle scenes. The adventure all starts with the game’s deep character customization. We will have access to the usual features to build up the character of our dreams, such as different hairstyles, body ornaments, and other facial features.

When it comes to the actual character themselves, we will be afforded much freedom. It looks like quests are open-ended and can be solved in various ways. The burly of us can choose to brute force any problem, as nothing can’t be solved without violence. Otherwise, we can charm our way through difficult conversations, or even sneak past everything and anything.

There will be four “template” classes to choose from which will determine your initial strengths and weaknesses. Players can choose to take up arms as a soldier, hide in the shadows as a thief, draw in a crowd as an entertainer, or even be as wise as a sage. The world is our oyster in Dragonheir.

Six primary attributes will also determine our strengths even further. These are Strength, Intelligence, Dexterity, Constitution, Charisma, and Wisdom.

In addition to this, players will be able to recruit over 200 heroes to join in our adventure. Given how many different character and race combinations there are, Dragonheir will surely have a limitless number of unique combinations and party compositions.

Dragonheir will have a hybrid real-time/turn-based combat system. From initial footage, it gives off the impression that this is a sort of real-time-with-pause kind of affair, like Dragon Age: Origins,Pillars of Eternity, or the classic Baldur’s Gate games. Despite the game having these limitations, combat will still feel quick, snappy, and most importantly, responsive.

Your heroes perform their basic attacks automatically on their own. Players exercise control directly by issuing individual commands that pause the game momentarily. Battles can also be directly influenced by the choices you make beforehand. Players can choose their tools to bring into fights, such as weapons, spells, heroes, and others.

Developers SGRA compares DragonHeir to chess, stating that positioning will be a key aspect in achieving victory. The terrain is also said to have quite the impact on combat, suggesting things such as high ground advantage, or even obstacles and debris that will break the line of sight.

The story and exploration aspects of Dragonheir will be a bit more open-ended than some RPGs. Quests and missions will be non-linear and the player can choose which leads to follow (or ignore). While we are the traditional “chosen one”, we can still forge our own destiny.

Assisting us with this choice is our ever-favorite die, the D20. This dice mechanic will be an underlying system within almost all of the game’s systems. Everything from the combat to the story options will be determined by the roll of the dice. It will also determine, along with your stats, your success rate of various actions such as stealing, persuading, or intimidating.

DragonHeir: Silent Gods is planned to release for both PC and Android in the second half of this year. A specific date and price point haven’t been determined as of yet. We can assume though that since Marvel Snap was free-to-play, then DragonHeir will be too.

Pre-registration for the fantasy RPG has started now, on the game’s main webpage. Those who do so will also gain some special tester rewards, such as heroes, items, and more.
