Dragon’s Dogma 2 New Warfarer Vocation Revealed at State of Play
A new vocation called the Warfarer was revealed for Dragon’s Dogma 2 at the latest Sony State of Play.
We’re just a few months out from the release of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Capcom are eagerly sharing new details of the return of the epic Action-RPG. In this sequel, there will be plenty of new features and newly revealed during the Playstation State of Play was a newVocationtheWarfarer.
The developer has already revealed that new Vocations would be coming in this entry including the impressive Mystic Spearhand and sneaky illusionist Trickster. But up next we get a look at the Warfarer.
The Warfarer while being a versatile class possesses a lower set of base stats compared to other Vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This necessitates players to strategically utilise the vocation’s diverse range of weapons and skills to compensate for the lower stats while still being able to compete with other specialised vocations. So while it may be a jack of all trades, players will need to use them wisely.
This will also be another Arisen exclusive like theTrickster, so don’t think yourPawnwill be able to adopt this class. They can unleash powerful combos, even using Trickster skills to pull one over on foes and give them ample opportunity to chant their powerful magical attacks.
This Vocation allows players to pick up an archistaff or a greatsword. Cast to create an ice platform and then slice them down with your greatsword. This sounds like a great choice for those who want a mix of gameplay or can’t decide whether they prefer melee or magic as this one has it all.
Moreover, the latest trailer revealed the Dragonsplague, an infectious ailment that impacts pawns as they journey across realms. But instead of diminishing the pawns’ resolve, Dragonsplague actually boosts their performance and makes them much more confident in nature. Doesn’t sound so bad? However, the later stages of the illness are less than favourable hinted to “result in devasting calamity”. It will be interesting to see how Pawns change up their behaviours as they enter this strange occurrence which sounds like a blessing and a curse.
I remember Pawns in my first Dragon’s Dogma playthrough seemingly act on their own, but you can choose how they behave. This could certainly throw a spanner in the works if you’re hoping to keep the Pawns from harm’s way, but also might have some interesting results if they suddenly become overly confident when experiencing the effects ofDragonsplague.
Also introduced today were vocation maisters, who seem to know their stuff about their respective vocations. Lennart for example a Fighter has great sword skills, great in combat and has stellar leadership skills. While Sigurd takes up the Mystic Spearhand as their vocation. He tends to wander from “place to place” in search of dragons.
Getting to know maisters better could be advantageous as they may give you special tomes that allow you to unlock new vocations or gain skills through “Maister’s Teaching”. One example given is the Archer, Heavenly Shot, which gives a powerful arrow shot, raining maximum power in exchange for player stamina. Another is Wild Furie, which deals both magick and physical damage.
Also shown was the new action trailer which showed off some of the combat. It showed what some of these Vocations will look like in combination with each other such as theMystic Archerwith theMystic Spearhandwhich looks awesome. But after learning about the Warfarer, that might be my go-to for my first playthrough for DD2 for someone who wants the best of both worlds.
