Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen coming to PC!

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is the next exciting chapter in the Dragon’s Dogma franchise delivering a huge brand new area, missions, enemies and more, plus all of the content from the original game. Those brave enough to travel to the cursed Bitterback Isle will discover an underground realm, complete with new terrifying foes to face and incredible treasure to find as they embark on an all new quest. For those that missed Dragon’s Dogma the first time around, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen provides the opportunity to start their journey from the very beginning before tackling the all new content.

Wow, one of the most underrated games last gen, looking forward to the mod community to bring more life to this game. Maybe a DLC? I don’t expect anything from Crapcom but would be nice.

Yeah I mean specifically Dragon’s Dogma 2 and not the Dragon’s Dogma Online that’s getting released in Japan. I think the online iteration could be totally fine but I want to see a proper sequel that builds off of the 1st. For a debut IP it had a tremendous start. Imagine where it could go if it got the proper new baby nurturing that new IPs like Assassin’s Creed and Uncharted received.

It would have also been nice if pawns could play the other vocations, I wanted my pawn to be an assassin while I play as a fighter, which later I found out fighter was kind of weak, and my pawn could not be an assassin. I also agree about the balancing issues with the vocations Fighter and Warrior felt way weaker then some of the other vocations.

The “sequel” is an mmo though isn’t it? I have very little faith in Dragons Dogma as we know it working in an MMO format. Maybe Japan (who has it, apparently) knows better.

Or are you thinking Dragons Dogma 2? (that definitely needs to happen.)

Yeah, it definitely is a game that shone through in spite of its numerous flaws. There were plenty of moments of frustration for me, many of the specific issues you mentioned. But as you also said, combat and environment were top notch. Perhaps that extra budget will find its way into the sequel, if/when it ever lands.

It’s deeply flawed in a bunch of places though. It’s really poorly balanced (Red and Blue vocations range from terrible to mediocre with Mystic Knight being the only vocation without yellow to actually be good) the damage formulas are awful (which BBI makes abundantly clear) the story is well concieved but poorly executed, the characters are pretty flat, everybody looks weird, numerous items are outright game breaking and the stats/leveling system heavily penalises people for playing the class they actually want to play unless you’re playing an assassin or sorcerer. It speaks volumes about just how good the combat and environmental design is that the game can be so good in spite of the many problems. (I have 3 level 200 characters who’ve done at least NG+ and they’ve all done BBI a bunch.)

I maintain that if they’d gotten an extra year and 5 million more dollars it would be the best game in the genre.

They’re masterworks all, you can’t go wrong!

I really came to enjoy the AI chatter. It was poignant as often as it was whacky and inappropriate. Ever since this announcement, I’ve had this overwhelming urge to play this again. It was just the perfect combination of Western RPG and JRPG concepts. It dawned on me that it may actually be one of my favorite games of all time, I just sank so many happy hours into it, especially Everfall. Going after the online Ur-Dragon was a daily event for me. The memories! The title theme!

Use bombs wisely!!

Oh, wait. Wrong ceaseless AI chatter?

If they fix the blasted slowdown I’ll buy it. Ideally they’ll tweak the balance again to make pure red vocations worth using and stop the X4 buff stacking and blast arrow non-sense, as well as kill the 1 save per profile crap. Still, that stuff is nice but the slowdown fix is a make or break thing.

(I actually don’t mind the AI chatter, and it’s often useful.)

Strength in numbers.

I, like many other community members, loved this game and have long wondered why it had not made it over to pc. Really happy it will make the jump!

Yes! This was one of the games that I’d gotten for free on PSN, but after getting rid of my PS3 I’ve missed it! I never had the chance to finish. Great game though and I look forward to playing it more.
