Funcomhas celebrated a milestone for its MMODune: Awakening; more than one million users onSteamhave added the game to their wishlists. On the occasion of theSummer Game Fest, a new cinematic trailer has been released for a good look into the upcoming Dune story.
More than a million players have added thisFuncomgame to their wishlists, which takes place in a new timeline promising to put the future of Arrakis in the player’s hands. Paul Atreides narrates the trailer and contemplates a vision of a world where he was never born.
The company does not deny the visual inspiration from the cinematic production created by Denis Villeneuve, butDune: Awakeningwill take place in an alternative timeline to that of the books and movies, making it a completely original experience: “Players will find a title that remains faithful to the beloved world of Dune, while also offering the opportunity to surprise players with a narrative that revolves around a key decision that reimagines the future of Arrakis.”
InDune: Awakening, Jessica Atreides never gave birth to Paul, but instead chose to obey the orders of the Bene Gesserit and have a daughter. She names her Ariste Atreides, a character that players will get to know in the game.
This important decision sets off a chain reaction that radically changes the situation in Arrakis, ultimately leading to the survival of Duke Leto Atreides and a War of Assassins between the Harkonnens and the Atreides.
Dune: Awakeningis the next open-world survival MMO where you can experience the true fantasy of Dune. Create, build, gather, and kill to progress from mere survival to mastering Arrakis.
