Eastward: Octopia DLC Gets Launch Date January 31st 2024 for PC & Switch

Octopia will focus on Sam and John in the cosy countryside, full of life-sim activities such as cooking, fishing, and the comforts of a charming community. Here they’ll revive an old farmstead, revitalising the land. It also brings new culinary delights from John’s Cookbook. Players can grow their own ingredients and use the crops to create make tasty treats.

This DLC will also work in more of the community, where Sam and John can help to rebuild the town. Using their skills to upgrade the stores and homes.

If you’re wondering if you need to have completed Eastward to play Octopia, worry not as you can access the expansion from the main menu. You will need a copy of Eastward in order to play, however. Octopia will be available for $5.99 USD.

In case you missed it Eastward draws inspiration from Japanese RPGs, but combining influences from Asia architecture and culture. It’s inspired by places such as Hong Kong, South Korea, Shanghai and India. Other inspirations include Zelda, Earthbound and Studio Ghibli.

In Eastward, players embark on a captivating journey with a hardworking miner and a girl endowed with enigmatic powers. Together, they traverse a dystopian country aboard a train, navigating through lands tainted by toxicity. The game’s dynamic action allows players to tactically switch weapons to confront adversaries and alternate between the two protagonists to solve intricate environmental puzzles. As adventurers, players have the opportunity to explore the world, discover valuable items, and engage in cooking. Developed by Chucklefish, the game is designed to offer around 30 hours of immersive gameplay to complete the main story.

While Eastward’s main game focused on the more urban aspects of the world, the Octopia DLC looks to take a page out ofStardew Valleyand the Story of Seasons series, swapping shovel for pitchfork in the rural countryside. A sleepier side of game but hopefully still has some elements of combat, to mix things up between the more laidback activities.
