Elden Ring 2 Is Not in FromSoftware’s Plans

Hidetaka Miyazaki, president ofFromSoftware, has confirmed that the studio is working on several games spanning different genres, but none of them include a sequel toElden Ring.

During the PlayStation Partner Awards, Miyazaki confirmed that FromSoftware is currently developing multiple projects across various genres, aiming to showcase a “new face” of the studio.

While they haven’t ruled out the possibility of remastering or remakingBloodborne, creating aDark Souls 4, anArmored Coresequel, or even aSekiro 2,what’s certain is thatElden Ring 2isnotin development. Fans of the Lands Between will have to make do with theShadow of the ErdtreeDLC for the time being.

“We’re not really considering developments like anElden Ring 2,” Miyazaki reiterated in the interview, echoing statements he made earlier this year.

But fans shouldn’t lose hope, as a successful IP likeElden Ringisn’t likely to be shelved for too long. Miyazaki himself, alongsideGame of Thronescreator George R.R. Martin, has expressed interest in adaptingElden Ringinto other formats, such as a film or TV series.

“I’d like to say that we’re not ruling out future developments for theElden RingIP,” Miyazaki remarked.

Without a doubt, this indicates thatElden Ringhas not had its final word. A sequel might become a reality in the years to come.

As for the potential acquisition of FromSoftware’s parent company, Kadokawa Group, by Sony PlayStation, negotiations seem to have cooled off due to the high asking price from the Japanese corporation. However, the situation remains worth monitoring.
