Elden Ring Devonia’s Hammer Build – Devonia Devastator (Shadow of The Erdtree)

In thisShadow of the ErdtreeDevonia’s Hammer Build, I’m going to be showing you myDevonia Devastatorbuild. This is a build that usesDevonia’s Hammerand theCrucible Knightarmor to achieve absolutely devastating results. This build is, of course, named afterDevonia, one of theCrucible Knightsyou face in theShadow of the ErdtreeDLC, from whom you get this hammer, as well as the helmet that you can match with theCrucible Knightset.

In this Elden Ring Build Guide, I’ll be showing you my Devonia’s Hammer build. This is aShadow of the Erdtreebuild that takes place after level 150. If you’ve been looking for a Twinblade build that deals great damage with it’s weapon skill Devonia’s Vortex, then you might want to check this build-out.

We have over 110 Elden Ringbuilds. Each one is meticulously crafted to offer unique playstyles, strategies, and experiences, ensuring there’s something for every adventurer in the Lands Between. Whether you seek the raw power of heavy weapons, the finesse of spellcasting, or the versatility of hybrid builds, our collection has you covered. Explore the depths of the game’s mechanics and unleash your full potential with our diverse array of builds.

Devonia’s Hammeris a colossal weapon that deals predominantly physical damage with a bit of holy damage. It scales very well with strength and has decent faith scaling, offering a fantastic guard boost and a high attack rating for substantial damage per swing. However, its significant weight of 20 makes it challenging to use, especially with heavy armor like theCrucible Knight set.

The weapon skill,Devonia’s Vortex, resemblesOrdovis’s Vortexand involves a twirl and ground slam that can be charged for increased damage. This skill deals immense damage, particularly when combined withShard of AlexanderandGodfrey Icon. Boosting physical damage withFlame, Grant Me StrengthorExalted Fleshis also effective.

Initially, I pairedDevonia’s Hammerwith new Crucible incantations, but faced issues: optimized for theClawmark Seal, I lost about 80 attack rating compared to my current setup. Additionally, using theClawmark Sealresulted in less effective incantations than with theErdtree Sealand high faith. Therefore, a more faith-focused build is better for using incantations with the Crucible Knight set. Moreover, theAspects of the Crucible: Bloomincantation often missed enemies, whereasAspects of the Crucible: Hornsproved viable with good AoE.

UsingDevonia’s Vortexrequires finding the right openings, especially for the charged version. The skill’s hyper armor while charging allows you to tank through many hits, making it easier to execute against enemies and some bosses. Effective strategies include jump or running attacks to build stance damage, followed by stance-breaking enemies for a chargedDevonia’s Vortex, and chaining stance breaks with subsequent attacks.

For this build, I’m using theErdtree Sealfor its zero weight, focusing onGolden VowandFlame, Grant Me Strengthfor damage and protection.

TheCrucible Tree Setprovides high poise and protection, essential for surviving close encounters with bosses while chargingDevonia’s Vortex. The newCrucible Hammer-HelmmatchesDevonia’sappearance but isn’t necessary if you’re not using Crucible Knight incantations.

For this build, I recommend several talisman setups, particularly for bosses. My go-to setup includes theTwo-Handed Sword Talismanfor increased damage on all non-Vortex attacks.

TheShard of Alexanderboosts the Vortex weapon skill’s damage, regardless of whether it’s charged or not.

Great-Jar’s Arsenalhelps manage the heavy setup, allowing for medium rolling with 30 endurance. If you have higher endurance (40-45), you might not need this talisman.

Dragoncrest Greatshield Talismanprovides significant physical protection, especially when combined withGolden Vow, the armor set, andOpaline Hardtear, offering around 72-73% physical protection at plus 7Scadutree Fragments. As you level up, you might consider replacing this talisman for more offensive options.

Alternative talismans includeGodfrey Iconfor boosting charged Vortex damage, useful in boss fights where you don’t need the extra protection.

Crusade Insigniais beneficial when exploring the landscape, offering a 15% damage boost to both regular attacks and weapon skills, making it more versatile thanGodfrey Iconin certain situations. TheTwo-Headed Turtle Talismanis helpful if you’re struggling with stamina, though higher endurance levels (35-40) typically mitigate this issue. You can also use theGreenburst Crystal Tearin yourFlask of Wondrous Physickto address stamina recovery problems.

Lastly, theClaw Talismancan be a good choice if you frequently use jump attacks, providing significant damage boosts, especially when paired with theTwo-Handed Sword Talisman. This combination enhances your jump attack damage, making it a strong option for this build.

For attributes, we have 50Vigor, 25Mind, 30Endurance, 65Strength, 13Dexterity, 16Intelligence, 25Faith, and 9Arcane. TheIntelligenceandArcanestats are unnecessary, a leftover from starting as anAstrologer.

Vigoris set at 50, but ideally, you want to raise this to 60, especially since this build is showcased at levels 150 to 160. This lowerVigoris due to the need for high Endurance and a minimum of 25Faithto useGolden VowandFlame Grant Me Strength. Increasing Vigor to 60 is crucial for better survivability as you will be trading damage frequently.

Mindis at 25, as you won’t be using a lot of it. While exploring or in legacy dungeons, buffing withGolden VoworFlame Grant Me Strengthis often unnecessary due to already high damage. These buffs are mainly for mini-bosses or elite enemies. Additionally, the weapon’sDevonia’s Vortexisn’t used much in regular encounters.

Enduranceat 30 is necessary for medium rolling with the chosen armor setup. Heavier armor will require moreEndurance, while lighter armor will need less. However, using very light armor is risky as trading damage is a key part of this build, and survivability is vital. With increasedEndurance(up to 40-45), you may eventually drop theGreat-Jar’s Arsenal, freeing up a talisman slot to further boost damage.

Strengthis at 65, just below the soft cap of 66 for two-handing weapons, providing good scaling and damage. While you can increase this for more damage, it’s not essential.Dexterityis set to 13 to meet the weapon requirements, andFaithis at 25 to useGolden VowandFlame Grant Me Strength, crucial for enhancing damage during boss fights.

For theFlask of Wondrous Physick, I recommend theOpaline Hardtearfor increased protection and theGreenburst Crystal Tearfor enhanced stamina recovery. While there are other talisman options, beyond boosting Strength or similar attributes, there aren’t many ways to increase damage significantly with this setup.

For theGreat Rune,Radahn’s Great Runeis an excellent choice, providing more FP, HP, and stamina, making the build easier to manage.Morgott’s Great Runeis also a good option, offering increased health which is beneficial since this build involves a lot of damage trading.

That wraps up theDevonia Devastator build. I thoroughly enjoy this setup, as it allows you to face bosses head-on, withstand their hits, and break their stance while unleashing the Vortex skill. It’s a very fun and engaging build. As always, let us know if you have questions or other tips in the comments below.
