Elden Ring Has Surpassed 25 Million Copies Sold

Bandai Namco and FromSoftwareannounce thatElden Ringhas surpassed 25 million copies sold just over two years after its release and shortly before the arrival ofShadow of the Erdtree.

There is just one week left untilElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, the first and only major expansion for FromSoftware’s outstanding open-world game, arrives onPS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. We’ve already learned many details about theDLC, such as its disk size and that most players have not defeated the necessary boss to start it, but today a positive piece of news related to this project has been revealed.

Elden Ring’s commercial success could be anticipated from its very launch, when the game managed to sell 12 million copies in less than three weeks. In less than a month, FromSoftware’s new offering had already surpassed Dark Souls III, the most sold installment of the saga with 10 million copies sold in four years.

At that time, publisherBandai Namcocelebrated the title’s success and stated that Elden Ring would expand beyond the realm of video games, though we have yet to hear more about that.

Few titles can boast of selling more than 25 million units in two years. Just this week, Resident Evil Village, the latest installment of a well-known and established saga, celebrated reaching10 million copies in three years.

It’s likely thatElden Ring’ssales will see a boost in the coming days and weeks thanks to the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, which will be released on June 21.

Shadow of the Erdtreeis a substantial content addition, which explains the lengthy development time. With this expansion, players who have defeated Radahn, Scourge of the Stars, will be able to follow Miquella’s steps to travel beyond the Lands Between and reach the Shadowland.

There, they will meet Messmer the Impaler, one of Marika’s children, and have the opportunity to die at the hands of new bosses and enemies while trying to acquire new equipment and abilities. This will be the only expansion forElden Ring.
