Elden Ring Marais Executioner’s Sword Build Guide – Eochaid Executioner
In this Elden Ring Marais Executioner’s Sword Build Guide, I’ll be showing you my Eochaid Executioner build. This is a level 150 Aracne-Strength build that uses the Marais Executioner Sword.
A Marais Executioner’s Sword Build that uses the Marais Executioner’s Sword or Regalia of Eochaid to deal massive damage viaEochaid’s Dancing Blade
We have over 110Elden Ring Buildsnow, for all classes and playstyles. This Build is recommended for Level 150.
At first glance, this might seem like an odd choice of a combination because there isn’t a ton of synergy between Strength and Arcane. There isn’t a seal or staff that scales with both of these, and if you’re playing a hybrid character, the stat that you want to pump for your spell casting is also the stat you want to pump up for your weapon. In this case, you’re pumping Strength, which doesn’t benefit spell casting unless you’re using theClawmark Seal, in which Arcane does nothing. If you’re usingDragon Communion Seal, Arcane benefits it but Strength doesn’t. As far as staves, you have a similar situation so there really isn’t a lot of synergy here at first glance.
However,Marais Executioner’s Sword’sskill absolutely slaps.Eochaid’s Dancing Bladecharges you forward, spins the sword like a corkscrew, dealing damage, then you grab the sword and slash. What’s interesting about this skill is that the damage it deals isn’t based off base damage and weapon scaling. Instead, it is based on your total attack power, so increasing your total attack power automatically increases the damage of this skill. There are an absurd amount of ways to increase your attack power in this game. You can use Lord of Blood’s Exultation, Kindred of Rot’s Exultation, and other talismans to increase it.
We’ll be using the Marais Executioner’s Sword here because of this. If you use theRegalia of Eochaid, you have less damage because the attack power of that weapon, even with all the scaling and everything added to it, will come out less because Regalia of Eochaid is a straight sword, while Marais Executioner’s Sword is a greatsword. You can still use it and deal significant damage, but you’re not going to deal as much compared to Marais Executioner’s Sword. Just keep in mind that your stat spread will be a bit different, as Regalia of Eochaid scales with Dexterity and Arcane. It falls off past 20 points in Dexterity, so you can pump up Arcane to 80 instead.
A good weapon pairing with this build is theAntspur Rapier. You can use it as a secondary weapon in your right hand, as it increases attack power for Eochaid’s Dancing Blade. You can also set poison or scarlet rot with this, so you can increase your attack power by using theKindred of Rot’s Exultationand theMushroom Crown. You’ll get 30% increased attack power for 20 seconds when you poison an enemy or start a boss fight. You can also put bleeding on Antspur Rapier, so you can useLord of Blood’s Exultationfor that increased attack power. This is a good weapon to have, but you don’t need it all the time. This is just for putting status effects on a boss, which, if combined with the weapon skill, is absolutely deadly.
I’m also using theBanished Knight’s Shield. The reason for that is because it has relatively good guard boost when it’s maxed out, and its equip load weight is rather low. You could use a better shield with this build, in terms of Strength requirement, one that blocks out a lot more, has higher guard boost, but your equip load will skyrocket significantly. You’ll have to put more points in Endurance to use a better shield, which is totally up to you. It’s not a bad idea if you like to block a lot, but the shield is optional in this build. We’re building around the sword, but having a shield isn’t a bad idea with this build. You can block, then use L2, into the weapon ability, which could stagger an enemy and do a lot of damage.
As for armor, I’m using theChain Setbecause it’s not that heavy and it gives me decent protection.
There are a lot of good helmets for this build. TheWhite Maskincreases your attack power by 10% if you set bleeding, or if you have the hemorrhage effect set on you. The Mushroom Crown does the same thing with poison. You can also use a helmet that increases Strength or Arcane. However, I don’t recommend theSilver Tear Maskbecause it lowers your overall attack power. That will lower the damage of Eochaid’s Dancing Blade.
When it comes to talismans, I use:Shard of Alexander,Rotten Winged Sword Insignia,Millicent’s Prosthesis.
For the fourth slot, it’s a flex slot depending on the situation. Sometimes, I’ll use theGreen Turtle Talismanif I plan on blocking a lot. Sometimes, I’ll put theGodfrey Iconon there if I know that I can get charged attacks of the skill off, because you can charge it up for increased damage and range, although it’s kind of hard to do so I don’t recommend putting it on all the time. If you’re going for a bleed set-up, you’ll use the Lord of Blood’s Exultation. For a poison set-up, it’ll be the Kindred of Rot’s Exultation instead.
If you plan on moving around the landscape, you might use theAncestral Spirit’s Hornto reclaim 3FP every time you kill an enemy. One cast would usually kill an enemy. An alternative to this would be theCarian Filigreed Crestto reduce the FP cost by 3%, which you’ll be getting the same amount from anyway with the Ancestral Spirit’s Horn.
Shard of Alexanderboosts the damage of the ability by 15%, which is great. We need that damage increase to make it strong.
Rotten Winged Sword InsigniaandMillicent’s Prosthesiswork together. As you hit an enemy rapidly, your attack power increases. The corkscrew attack of Eochaid’s Dancing Blade counts as an attack, so the more hits you do, the more damage increase you get. The first hits are going to do very little damage, but it’s going to quickly ramp up until the end of the combo. If you get the whole combo off, it’s going to hit at around 4000 to 6000 damage.
You can charge this to deal increased damage, which is one of the reasons you can useGodfrey Icon. You can get an extra 15% damage when you hold down L2 in order to make it have increased range and damage. You can’t pull it off in some boss fights, but you can use it on some enemies that are aggressively charging towards you.
The way this build generally plays is that as you’re running around on the landscape and you run into a pack of enemies, you’ll try to kill one enemy with Eochaid’s Dancing Blade. This will trigger Rotten Winged Sword Insignia and Millicent’s Prosthesis to increase your attack power, so even your regular attacks are that are going to hit harder. Any Eochaid’s Dancing Blade you do on other enemies after that will also attack harder, even at the beginning of the attack.
I usually just go around and nuke everything with this ability of possible. It usually staggers most enemies. One upside that this weapon has of Regalia of Eochaid is that is has a longer range. Sometimes, the Regalia just misses a couple hits because enemies get pushed back a little bit. That doesn’t seem to happen as much with the greatsword.
With bosses, you basically have two strategies. You can try and block if you’re using a shield, and do some block counters to stagger them. If it’s possible, you can charge your Eochaid’s Dancing Blade, or you can try and hit them with a couple. You can dodge and block them, until you have an opening. Learning the timing of bosses is really important to pull this off. You can’t just walk up to them and spam this ability and melt them.
Another thing that I like about the Marais Executioner’s Sword is that its R2 is a vertical slash. Sometimes, it’s difficult to hit enemies because they’re above you. Maybe it’s flying, or maybe it’s a big boss and its head is above you. The vertical slash will get it, and it really works well.
For the stats in this build, I have: 40Vigor, 25Mind, 28Endurance, 47Strength, 20Dexterity, 9Intelligence, 15Faith, and 50Arcane.
40 Vigor is there to make sure that you can take a hit and keep in kicking. You’re going to be wearing decent armor with this, so that should be enough for you. Also, Vigor starts to decline a little bit after 40, so it’s a good breakpoint. We need stats in other places to make this build work, so we’re going to go a little bit lower on the Vigor side for this build.
25 Mind is there to give you enough FP to use Eochaid’s Dancing Blade regularly. In between checkpoints, I only need like one or two blue flasks in order to get from checkpoint to checkpoint. Even spamming this on every enemy, so I think this is a really good spot. You could lower this a little bit and have an extra blue points, and put extra points somewhere else if you want.
28 Endurance is there because we’re using a shield. I have a greatsword equipped, and Antspur Rapier too. If you’re not using Antspur Rapier, or maybe if you decide to go with Regalia of Eochaid, this could be lower. It’s good to have a lot of stamina for blocking, so if you’re trying to make a block build, it’s not bad to have a lot of stamina. If you picked a heavier shield, you can add a couple of points here. This stat will fluctuate a little bit depending on the armor that you’re using. I have 28 Endurance here so that I can still do a medium roll with all my equipment.
We have 47 Strength and 50 Arcane here. Arcane drops off heavily after 50, so I don’t recommend going any higher than 50. If you want to keep progressing this build, keep increasing Strength. Strength outperforms Arcane in terms of overall damage, particularly lower than 45, so it’s going to do better in general. You should prioritize Strength until 45, then increase Arcane afterwards until 50.
When it comes to Dexterity, I actually have 15 but Millicent’s Prosthesis which adds +5 towards Dexterity. That’s there to meet the requirement for this build. I believe the Regalia of Eochaid has a requirement of 18 Dexterity, so you’ll need 18 if you decide to use that. If you’re playing with the Marais Executioner’s Sword, you will only need 14 Dexterity. This’ll depend on your set-up.
We don’t need any Intelligence or Faith for this build. The only reason that I have 15 here is that I’m playing as a Confessor. I had 14 already, so adding one more point so I can useFlame, Grant Me Strengthis worth it. This increases my damage by 20%, which is great. It’s a significant boost, as around 80% of your damage will be physical.
If you’re using theFlask of Wondrous Physick, I highly recommend using theThorny Cracked Tear. This is going to increase your attack power for successive hits, which is basically the same effect as Millicent’s Prosthesis and Rotten Winged Sword Insignia.
I also like usingGreenburst Crystal Tearas it increases our stamina recovery. However, if you want to get max damage, you can useStrength-knot Crystal Tearas it adds +10 to your Strength. That’s going to your attack power, which will further boost the damage of this weapon.
