Elden Ring Sword of St. Trina Build Guide – Slumbering Swordstress

In this Elden Ring Sword of St. Trina Build Guide, I’m showcasing mySlumbering Swordstressbuild. This New Game Plus build leverages theSword of St. Trinato induce the Sleep status effect on enemies.

Many players have requested a sleep-based build, and I’ve reserved this for New Game Plus. The reason is that this build requires twoSword of St. Trinaswords, which can only be obtained by progressing to New Game Plus or by having someone drop an extra sword for you in your initial playthrough. Therefore, it is possible to use this build during your first playthrough if you acquire an additionalSword of St. Trinafrom another player.

A Quality (Strength/Dexterity) Build that uses Sleep to dispatch enemies very quickly.

We have over 110 Elden Ring builds. Each one is meticulously crafted to offer unique playstyles, strategies, and experiences, ensuring there’s something for every adventurer in the Lands Between. Whether you seek the raw power of heavy weapons, the finesse of spellcasting, or the versatility of hybrid builds, our collection has you covered. Explore the depths of the game’s mechanics and unleash your full potential with our diverse array of builds.

First of all, let’s talk about theSword of St. Trina. This weapon causesSleepbuildup, 66 per swing. Dual-wielding it lets you hit twice with one swing, doubling the buildup and inflictingSleepfaster. The weapon has poor damage, negligible magic damage, and terrible Intelligence scaling.StrengthandDexterityscaling are similar, withDexterityslightly better. After meeting the requirements of 14Intelligence, 12Dexterity, and 10 Strength, focus onStrengthandDexterity. In this build, we have 55Dexterityand 45Strengthfor optimal damage, aiming for 80Dexterityand 80Strengthin the long run.

The weapon skill,Mists of Slumber, sweeps dust in front of you, quickly building theSleepstatus. It’s useful against shielded enemies or those you need to bait into attacking. It also buffs your weapon to add moreSleepbuildup. Use it to set theSleepstatus quickly or to make your next attacks more likely to inflictSleep, giving you an opportunity for free damage.

TheSleep status effectcauses enemies to sleep once the invisible bar is filled, provided they’re not resistant. Resistant enemies will stagger momentarily, allowing you to safely continue your combo. Use rapid strikes to inflictSleep, then backstab for critical damage or use talismans to regain FP and increase damage.

In New Game Plus, some bosses are immune to Sleep.Flying Dragon AgheelandNight’s Cavalryare immune, so just use regular attacks.Margit, the Fell Omen, is also immune, but you can still defeat him with dual-wield attacks, building up attack power buffs for higher damage. Most enemies will either go to sleep or stagger, making them easy to handle.

For dual straight swords, prioritize jump attacks for quick double hits or use planted L1 attacks. The running L1 attack is slow, so opt for a running jump L1 followed by a stationary L1 sweep. This method builds Sleep status and triggers talismans effectively. Adjusting from acurved swordbuild may take practice, but it’s the best approach for dual straight swords in this build.

You don’t get as many hits as you would with acurved sword. This would be so much better if this was acurved swordbecause you would hit even faster. But this is the best way to get dual straight swords to hit multiple times in order to build up that Sleep status effect and to trigger the talismans. It’s a bit strange if you’re coming from a curved sword build where you’re used to charging in with L1, instead you’re charging in, jumping, attacking, and then not moving and attacking with L1, then mashing L1. It’s not too different, but it takes a little bit of getting used to, learning to stop yourself if you’re sprinting and then attack instead of going for that sprinting L1.

I’m using theNox Swordstress setfor the armor used in this Elden Ring Sword of St. Trina build. There are two main reasons for this choice. First, I love the style. It looks fantastic with a dual-wield straight sword setup and fits the theme perfectly. Second, it’s lightweight, allowing for a light load, which is a new approach for me. This build focuses on dodging in and out of combat, setting enemies to sleep, and avoiding hits, making it a lot of fun to play as a light load.

However, you can also opt for a medium roll build with heavier armor for more poise, which would make dual sword attacks more effective. If you prefer min-maxing, you could swap the chest piece for theRaptor’s Black Feathers. This piece isn’t very heavy and increases jump attack damage, which is excellent for dual straight swords as they hit twice with jump attacks, just like with standing L1 attacks. This adjustment would provide more damage for those looking to optimize the build fully.

When it comes to talismans for this Sword of St. Trina build, the choices depend on your playstyle, the challenges you face, and your build preferences. Here are the ones I’m currently using:

First, theAssassin’s Cerulean Daggeris crucial for FP restoration through backstabs, especially when enemies are put to sleep. Alternatively, theAncestral Spirit Horncan be a suitable replacement, depending on your preference for backstabbing.

Next, theGreat-Jar’s Arsenalensures a light load, although it requires considerable endurance investment. You could opt for theCrucible Feather Talismanfor enhanced dodge rolling effectiveness, providing more invincibility frames and making you harder to hit.

Another option is theClaw Talisman, further boosting jump attacks, which are frequent in this build.

Lastly,Millicent’s ProsthesisandRotten Winged Sword Insigniaenhance damage with repeated hits, significantly increasing your damage output over time. While you can’t obtain both immediately, starting withMillicent’s ProsthesisandRotten Wingsword Insigniauntil you acquire the latter is a solid strategy. Additionally, the bonusdexterityfromMillicent’s Prosthesiscomplements theSword of St. Trina‘s scaling, further boosting your damage.

For this Sword of St. Trina build, the attribute distribution is as follows:

Before wrapping up the Elden Ring Sword of St. Trina Build guide, here are some final tips for maximizing your effectiveness with the Slumbering Swordstress build. If you’re utilizing theFlask of Wondrous Physick, prioritize theThorny Cracked Tearto amplify your damage output during rapid attacks.

This is especially beneficial for dual-wielding setups, particularly if you’re focusing on physical damage. Additionally, consider equipping theGreenburst Crystal Tearto enhance your stamina recovery. Despite having ample stamina, the rapid swings with your L1 attacks can quickly deplete it, so faster recovery will enable longer combos without waiting for stamina to replenish fully.

As for the optimalGreat Runefor this build,Godrick’s Great Runeis a solid choice. It provides a well-rounded boost to attributes such asvigor, mind, endurance, strength, dexterity, and a minor amount ofintelligence. This versatility ensures you meet the necessary requirements for wielding theSword of St. Trinaeffectively, even if you prefer not to heavily invest in intelligence.
