Fextralife’s Most Wanted: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The famed monster hunterGeralt of Riviareturns for his final adventure of CD Projekt Red’s critically acclaimed Witcher series, in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Being a big fan of the series it’s hard not to get too excited for this game, especially sinceThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntlooks to be better than ever. CD Projekt Red has taken a new approach with an open world, whereas, the previous 2 games had more of a linear path. The Witcher 3 breaks this mold, by allowing the player to go wherever he or she wishes and take on wild beasts and quests whenever they wish.
The Witcher 3 features a living breathing world that is 20% larger than Skyrim (that is larger than any other RPG in history), and has zero load screens beyond the initial one into the game. Because load times were such an issue in Skyrim, it has lead some to call it the “Skyrim Killer”. As in the previous games, players will be able to choose from a variety of traits and skills to customize Geralt to their play style. The developers have stated that the game features roughly 100 hours of gameplay for the main story and open world quests and the world will change based on choices and decisions made by the player through out the game.
If you like RPGs, if you like world exploration and discovery, if you like mythology and monsters, if you like a hero that doesn’t always do things the right way, you will love this game…

If you wanted to make the witcher an even better series, you’d make it open world. If they mix it up with the usual good story line and characters/dialogue it should be a truly epic game.
That’s what they are doing, making it open world.
This game looks amazing! I’m excited for it, and hoping the Dark Souls community gets into it as well, would love to play with you guys!
Excellent choice Cas! I will be playing this gem of a game!
Have you read the books? Well worth it! While the Blood of Elves Trilogy is great (I guess that’s what it’s called since that was the name of the first book in the series… The Time of Contempt is the second), The Last Wish was hands down a great great read. They’re technically a collection of short stories that introduced Geralt, but they actually have an overarching glue. I was a fan of those and then found out a game had been made. And the games do the books justice. More!!!
I’ve read the Last Wish and found it a really good read. I honestly felt the games captured Geralt perfectly. There is a website that has all the Polish folk lore terms from this book listed on it so you can speed up your read and actually understand what Geralt is hunting. Found it very helpful. The Blood of Elves is on my shelf. Will be reading it soon 🙂
