Echoes of the Fallen DLC unlocks a brand new narrative arc in Final Fantasy 16, complete with new battles, an array of weapons, accessories, and an increased level cap. For those who have conquered the necessary quests, this new chapter commences prior to the climactic battle of the base game, amidst the emergence of enigmatic, dark crystals in the black market. The journey follows Clive and his companions as they delve into their investigation, crossing paths with a few suspicious merchants. This trail leads them to the long-deserted Sagespire, a Fallen tower. Within its walls, they will uncover the grim secrets it harbours.
Special items include bonus items such as the Buster Sword from Final Fantasy 7, letting Clive wield Cloud Strife’s legendary weapon. A special chip-tune version of the song “Away” allows players to choose to have it as background music.
The first DLC for Final Fantasy 16 fleshes out the narrative surrounding the Fallen. While you won’t need to play the DLC in order to understand the main game, it will provide a “deeper insight” according to Final Fantasy XVI’s Lead Combat Designer and the DLC’s director, Takeo Kujiraoka. Omega is the main antagonist for the expansion, becoming perfect fit for the Fallen story arc.
A new field area can be explored in The Rising Tide, with stunning blue skies. Something is quite mysterious behind the reason of the blue skies but all will be revealed in the story. A new Eikon will grant Clive new Feats and Abilities with some unique effects. While new, they will fit seamlessly into Final Fantasy 16’s combat system.
