Final Fantasy XV Goes Gold, DLC Details Revealed & New CG Trailer

Presenting at Paris Games Week, Square Enix announced thatFinal Fantasy XVhas gone gold, meaning it’s finalized and on to press for its November 29th release on PS4 and Xbox One. This comes as great news to those who have followed its long development process.

Furthermore, Square spoke about theDLCplans for the game, and the work that is being put into it. The game will feature a 24.99 USD Season Pass that includes 3 individual episodic stories, where players can take on the role of main characterNoctis‘ 3 other party members:Prompto,IgnisandGladiolus. Through their eyes players can explore their stories and gameplay seeing new areas and earning new equipment and weapons that can be used in the base game. EpisodeGladioluswill launch first, followed byEpisode IgnisandEpisode Prompto. If you want to learn more about the party’s dynamics and backstory check out theparty feature we recently wrote. An expansion pack calledComradeswill follow these episodes, and will introduce online multiplayer for 4 players! The expansion will introduce new intense battles letting players explore the party dynamics. As with the 3 story episodes, it will be available standalone or included in the Season Pass.

But wait, there’s more! There’s always more. Topping everything off was the teased Omen, which is a brand new CG mini-film made with the creators of the Kingsglaive movie. Check out the slick video below:

If there’s one thing we can count on about Final Fantasy, is that they know how to put on a visual production. Give that trailer a look and try not to be captivated. I’m looking forward it it

No, not on the hype train. Shockingly i actually like traditional JRPGs (with no fewer than 4 being in my personal top 10) and have very little interest in mission based open-world collectathon multiplayer action game especially with the problems that open world games have with pacing and how that can kill a linear story. It does not help that the combat looks suspiciously like KH combat, which I really don’t like because even if the game requires you to do something other than mash x (which KH does not) it’s not a system I find the least bit entertaining (and there are better ways to allow the same number of commands without the clunky interface.)

It might end up being everything I didn’t know i wanted, but I’m not holding my breath.
