It isn’t often we find ourselves on the side of saving monster kind, but in Goblin Stone players will embark on an adventure to fight the tirade against goblins. In this unique, heartwarming turn-based RPG players fight “pompous elves” and befall “grumpy dwarfs” to save a merry crew of goblins. The goblin race is on the brink of distinction but not if you have anything to say about it.
A new trailer highlights the game’s beautiful hand-drawn visuals and storybook-esque inspiration. The gameplay involves strategy through procedurally generated high-stakes adventures where permadeath hangs in the balance. Exploring sprawling underground areas that span from the war room where goblin genealogy means creating the best goblins for the job. Here you can breed your best fighters altering their attributes.
Combat involves using skills to fight with the Timeline determining who gets to strike first. Time Units are used instead of the usual SP or Mana. The bigger cost of the ability the further the unit will be pushed back along the Timeline. As mentioned before, if a goblin fails they are met with death. This gives a sense of risk and reward, a bit likeDarkest Dungeon 2but without the possibility of recovering goblins, so give them a good death. Emphasis is creating your best warriors for the job.
The game is fully narrated by Scottish voice actor James Smillie and is accompanied by award-winning composer Peter McConnell (best known for Hearthstone, Psychonauts and the Monkey Island soundtrack).
Goblin Stone features multitudes of combinations when it comes to classes, weapons, abilities and even map traversal. The studio estimates it has roughly 40 hours of gameplay, with 60 enemy types, over 150 illustrated story images and 25 bosses to best.
Goblin Stonewill be released on March 12th for PC via Epic and Steam.
