The upcoming action game Granblue Fantasy: Relink is a spinoff of the Granblue series, which focuses on telling the story of Captain, the main playable character. But the action RPG is not limited to controlling a single character because as the leader of the group, you are in charge of who is best qualified to join your adventures in The Sky Realm. You can play the game in Solo Mode or engage with friends online to band together to take out massive monsters together!
Because Relink is going to be released on PlayStation consoles, Cygames had to find the middle ground of creating an RPG featuringcombat that feels satisfyingin terms of the skills to pull off and the challenges to get through.
Here, you can choose adventures and team members who offer unique abilities, which change the way you approach gameplay in its entirely.
The Granblue Fantasy: Relink release trailer highlights the destruction and chaos brought about by the Primal Beasts. They are monstrosities created by the Astrals years ago. It isn’t going to be easy to eliminate them but there is a rich cast of characters whom players can rely on.
There is Narmaya who is an excellent swordswoman, more than capable of taking down a flying dragon with her menacing slashes. Then you have Eugen who specializes in ranged combat with his trusty gun, letting him blast off catastrophic shots every now and then. The game is not solely about dealing damage, because utility and support-based characters are equally important to keep allies alive.
Every decision you pour into your team will either make combat difficult or easy as enemies try to isolate your characters from one another. In each party, you can only select four people who synergize well because they have unique weapons and sigils that only they, themselves, can wield. Synergy is important when it comes to linking attacks.
Your first goal is to stun targets by filling up the corresponding meter. Doing so will let you execute a link or “full-party attack” as long as your link level is also maximized, which is done by performing actions in fights.
But the interactivity and flashiness of combat do not end here. You also need to take Skybound Arts into consideration. This basically allows you to deal massive aftershock damage while chaining moves with other allies, inflicting a Chain Burst. You can utilize this against a terrifying boss or swarms of enemies.
Additionally, two Assist Modes will be available to aid those who are new to the genre. The first one involves an analog stick in combination with a single button to execute attacks. Comparatively, the second one includes auto-attack options with just the analog stick as a way to move characters.
To assist players coming from different types of games, and to open up Granblue Fantasy: Relink to more people, Cygames has decided to structure things differently. Instead of opting for an open-world environment, you can expect to see large open areas, allowing you to prepare for potential battles way before stepping into the next one. So you won’t feel overwhelmed when it comes to exploration.
Speaking of adventures, you will be heavily rewarded as you discover and fight off bosses as well as retrieve lost treasures. And similar to some of the heavy-hitter RPGs we know, you can expect allies and companions to banter with one another all throughout, adding a nice touch to further improve immersion with these characters.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink also has a bit of MMORPG DNA sprinkled in it thanks to the more than 100 quests available. These include destroying bosses and participating in raids, which will surely make it more exciting when playing with friends. Another positive aspect is that players can easily swap from one loadout to the next even when participating in these activities.
There are also the Special Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, and Collector’s Edition worth USD 79.99, USD 99.99, and USD 179.99, respectively. Some additional items that will be included here are the False Sword of the Apocalypse weapon, character color packs, and even the digital art book and soundtrack.
