Guild Wars 2 Unveils Its Latest Expansion, Janthir Wilds
“The legendary and terrifying Janthir Islands, filled with mursaat ruins, have been carefully guarded by the Astral Ward magi and, for most inhabitants of Tyria, are nothing more than a distant myth,” says the official synopsis ofJanthir Wildsprovided byArenaNet.
“But recent events have convinced world leaders to form the Tyrian Alliance and send the wayfarer to gain new allies. As you search Janthir for the lowland kodan colony, you will explore, fight, and uncover more about Tyria’s mysterious past.”
WhenJanthir Wildsbecomes available on August 20,Guild Wars 2players with the expansion will be able to explore two new maps where they must forge an alliance with the lowland kodan, the inhabitants of Janthir Island. From the launch day, they will also be able to master new forms of combat and exploration and unlock an estate.
The estate is a personal instance for the entire account with a structure and land that can be decorated and cultivated. This space, which is unlocked and developed through an associated mastery track, can be shared with friends.
Another new feature ofJanthir Wildsaffects spears, which will now be available for all professions and can be used on land as well as in underwater combat. To use a spear in both environments, it will be necessary to equip more than one.
Over the three quarterly releases that will followJanthir Wilds, players will receive new content, continue the story in a third map, craft a legendary spear and backpack, obtain new rewards from the Warlock’s Vault, cosmetic items, relic effects, and more.
The first update is expected to be available in November and will include a raid consisting of three encounters. The story of these encounters can be accessed in two ways: through a classic 10-player raid instance or with larger groups in open-world events.
Lastly,Janthir Wildswill add new mechanics to the warclaw mount and introduce a new PvP (Player vs. Player) mode that will be available throughout the next year.
