HBO Reveals The Release Window For Season 2 of The Last of Us
The Last of Uscould return sooner than expected. During an interview with Deadline following the Emmy Awards, HBO and Max Content President and CEO Casey Bloys offered some hints about when the second season of the acclaimed video game adaptation is expected to arrive.
“I’ve seen The Last of Us. I think everyone is going to love what [co-creator] Craig Mazin is doing,” he explained to Deadline. In a recent preview of HBO’s upcoming shows, fans got their first glimpse of the second season of the series starring Pedro Pascal, based on the controversial video game sequelThe Last of Us Part II.
The trailer features Joel, played by Pascal, speaking with a character portrayed by Catherine O’Hara, in a scene centered around his decision to save Ellie (Bella Ramsey). The trailer also highlights recognizable locations and characters for gamers, such as Abby, played by Kathryn Dever, Dina (Isabela Merced), and Isaac (Jeffrey Wright).
Jeffrey Wright’s involvement as Isaac, leader of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), will mark another significant return from the game, similar to how Merle Dandridge reprised her role as Marlene in the first season. Although it’s still unclear if other game actors will return for the live-action adaptation, it is known that Laura Bailey, who voiced Abby in the game, made a cameo in the first season as a Firefly nurse.
Isabela Merced, who will play Dina in the series, revealed that Kaitlyn Dever, who portrays Abby, had to be provided with additional security during filming due to the hostility some fans have expressed towards her character.
