Hideaki Itsunohas decided to leaveCapcomafter more than 30 years with the company. The director of iconic series such asDragon’s Dogmaand Devil May Cry 5 at the developer has chosen to part ways and start a new game elsewhere; the location is still unknown.

In an “announcement for all my followers,” the well-known developer who delighted many users with the Dragon’s Dogma sequel shared the news on his Twitter account.

In the replies, many users wish him the best for the future and express their anticipation to play his next game. However, some were hoping that the next Devil May Cry 6 would also bear his signature.

Although he will continue to offer all the necessary support, starting in September, he will embark on a new path in his career.

This means he will begin the development of an entirely new title in a new environment, though it has not yet been confirmed whether this will be at an existing studio or one he will establish on his own. What is clear is that he wants to produce beautiful and highly memorable games.

During his early years, Itsuno worked on multiple projects, mostly in fighting games. However, his true breakthrough came when he took the reins ofDevil May Cry 2, after which he was responsible for the subsequent installments, includingDevil May Cry 5. In fact, it was during the development of this chapter that we had the opportunity to interview him.

It was at that moment that he confessed he would love to developDragon’s Dogma 2, and so it happened, as it has been one of the most outstanding games released this year and one of the most anticipated after the positive reception of its predecessor.

The news that Hideaki Itsuno is leavingCapcomafter more than 30 years to create a new game at another studio might be a cold shock, but who knows what surprises lie ahead on his new path.
